Great beach that I have known for years. Clear water, a large bay with a few beautiful houses above and a pine forest.
Unfortunately, the infrastructure there is poor. In the beach hut you only get food on disposable dishes, as well as drinks, even coffee in paper cups. Other beach huts do it better, they use porcelain. The staff were also totally overwhelmed and we had to wait a long time for the food and drinks. What a shame! Sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented, but unfortunately too expensive. €10 per sunbed and umbrella. Toilets are a disaster.
But I won't let this beautiful beach spoil my experience, so it's better to bring your own sandwich and umbrella and enjoy the great view and the clear water on the sandy beach 🌴

Magnificent beach, escorted by Cala Salguer, a neighboring cove five minutes walk away. One of the most beautiful complexes on the Costa Brava. On the other side you can visit the recovered ruins of an Iberian town. And about 10 minutes through the forest is a barracks, a painting studio that was built for Salvador Dalí with the door on Diagonal, which makes it unique. Castell beach is wide and welcoming. Out of season, easy to park and the whole thing makes for an extremely rewarding walk.

It is an excellent beach, to be very comfortable. It only has one chiringuito, which is wonderful because the environment is beautiful, surrounded by pine forests and vegetation. You arrive at the beach parking lot and in a short walk you are on the beach, 5 minutes or less.
You have to rent kayaks and the truth that they are worth a lot.
21 euros for two. 18 for one person (prices August 2024).
We really liked it. More than other coves that are saturated. This one's not saturated.
The prices of the bar, very high.

Largeish beach with rocky areas each side so you can snorkel. small cafe - which the service was not good at and no hand sanitiser and they did not wash tables in between people !!
Weekends in the summer it is VERY busy and if you take he car you have to pay for parking - it is quite a long walk from the carpark to the beach.
It is pretty but prefer out of season. Worth a walk around the area also - dont just stay on the sand.

Amazing beach and great for family.
Really clear water, calm water makes it excellent for swimming, kids playing and paddle boarding.
Amazing spot and well worth it.
The only downside is a bit of a walk from the car-park

Platja del Castell is one of the some beaches in the surroundings of Palamós, in Costa Brava Region, in Girona Province. It is included in Round Way (Camí de Ronda) around Costa Brava. Really it is a very nice location to come in summer to bath and sunbath, or in winter (I came here in February), when you can walk around this path without hot days. Also, close to this beach, there is an archeological Iberian site and wonderful views of the coast. Salut i cuideu-vos!

Went here with the family on a Saturday in July and found the majority of the visitors to be Spanish locals. Accessible in car right of the main road (the beach has its own exit) or by a walking path from the city. The beach is part of a preserved area covering multiple beaches and coves. It is a beautiful area and a recommendable place, both for swimming/snorkeling/sun bathing but also for walk along the cost in unspoiled nature. Parking your car in high season is 5 EUR for the day on the very dusty parking lot. From the lot there is a few hundred meters to the beach. The beach is a sand beach, not the fine powder type of sand the grains a above average in size but still provides a great beach. As many of the other Costa Brava beaches this is not a beach that can be recommended for small children, a few meters out and the drop is more than 1 meter.
There is 2 identical restaurants serving drinks, sandwiches and a few other dishes. Prices are above the level elsewhere unfortunately without added quality. On the positive side there is a couple of toilets next to them.
The bay outside the beach is a popular anchor spot and on busy days there lots of boats everywhere of the coast.
You can rent sun bed and umbrella but I suggest you bring as much of what you need with you.
I have added a aerial photo that give a great impression of the beach and surroundings.

The previous review is very clearly of another location, because this is a beach with a single, albeit large, beach bar/restaurant. There are certainly no shops to browse! Please, Trip Advisor reviewers, if you insist on adding reviews to help others, make the effort to ensure you are adding your review to the correct location.
This beach has a large car park with a 5 Euro daily rate, and a five minute walk then brings you out at a generous sized beach with ample room, even when the car park is full.
Clean golden sand, with crystal clear water - pebbles for the first few feet and then steeply pitches onto more sand. Not great paddling for toddlers, but perfect for everyone else.
Decent sized bar/restaurant selling a good range of snacks at surprisingly good prices given the captive audience.
Well worth a visit.

We have just spent a fortnight in this lovely part of the world and visited this beach often. It is a beautiful beach - with one good beach bar and several public toilets (temporary ones what weren’t amazing but better than nothing!!). The sea is beautiful, a slight incline to get in and a bit of shingle/pebble initially but sandy after that. Some days it was very flat and calm but on others there was a yellow flag and the waves were quite big. Too big for my 3 year old but lots of children were having great fun jumping the waves. The car park is huge and we had no trouble parking even in the height of summer. Some may think 5 Euro for the day expensive but for a day at such a beautiful place well worth it! (If you arrive later in the day the cost is reduced). We totally fell in love with this beach and would really recommend it.

I visited this beach when I was about 12 and loved it. I always thought it must have been spoiled with hotels/developments but it is still a Paradise and totally undeveloped.
