The appointed centre of the town of Opava
Aug 2019 • Couples
The building of Opava Town Hall called Hláska, without which Opava residents can hardly imagine their town, is the appointed centre of the town of Opava. Its 60 metre long slender tower proudly dominates the Upper Square.

Good view

The tower is open by schedule so you need to check when. Halfway is by elevator and half way you must walk the stairs. The view of Opava is well worth it and the city has also placed some historical pieces for you to study on your way up/down.

Very seldom crowded.

If you've never been to Opava, it might be a good idea to visit the town hall's tower called Hlaska. You will hardly have a better overview of the whole city, which was largely destroyed at the end of World War II. You would probably be able to spot the places which were not and contrast them to communist or modern buildings around.

Visit on special opening-date
Dec 2015
During Christmas, it usually happens you are allowed to enter the building without even paying any fee. The employees usually gather and create a very interesting program for locals and tourists interested in the building and town history.

The building itself is quite old, but has been renovated in the past. There is an option to visit the tower, but you have to check up that first. It is located in the heart of the city as it serves as city hall. Right in front of tower Hlaska is a theatre which is worth visiting too.

Unfortunately, all the communication here is expected here in Czech, so you'd better get a local with english/your language skills to help you ;)
