Opava Cathedral has three naves, with two towers and it was built in the fourteenth century in Gothic style. The construction of the church probably began shortly after 1204 so it has great history and it is really worth to see it.

As a local, I have to say I have a special bond to this cathedral. It was probably the first or second church I have visited while I was living in Opava.
The whole cathedral is in dark red color, with towers currently in renewal state. The whole community (visiting the church) is participating in the funding which is really nice.
I will try to provide few pictures very soon, as I can see there are none and it's a real pity.
TIPS: In case you are staying in downtown, especially in hotel Koruna, this one is basically next to the hotel and you can't miss it. Cathedral seems to be open all year long in working hours.

On a driving circuit out of Brno through Olomouc, this structure is massive an sits in the heart of Opava. Frustrated that the doors were locked, I did a circuit walk around the building, finding one chapel visible through a gate.
Perhaps they should consider installing a gate once inside at the back, so visitors can appreciate the the church and have an opportunity to pray.
