Free outdoor swimming

Smart choice for saving visitors. Easy access by car, bike or public bus (#213 or 214). Small sand beach and then mostly grassy banks. The water is almost always clean enough. The lake was created by flooding the former gypsum quarry. Small pizzeria nearby and limited number of public toilets. Be prepared that other people bring their dogs there, not kept on leash. Lack of bins for waste. There is no life guard service, swimming is always at your risk. On the northern bank there is also a disc golf course with free access for public. In some hot days in May or September it is probably the only occasion in the city for an outdoor swimming. During the winter local people often go here to watch birds, try cross-country skiing or just feeding swans.

A nice lake on the outskirts of Opava but within walking distance. It's nice to walk around, I believe it used to be a quarry and at one end is a small pre war bunker. In summer on fine weekends Opavians flock to the water and the small artificial beach and pub/snack bar.
