My 1st visit to this wonderful family business was in 1985 and I was thoroughly enchanted and warmly welcomed by the Nulli brothers. My recent visit was just as wonderful. Their artistry has been perfected over a lifetime of maioliche production and holds true to the Deruta design tradition that people treasure the world over. Do NOT miss this studio and their breathtaking pieces of functional art.’

Our family (with young children) visited Maioliche Nulli in the early afternoon the first week of June. The brothers were so kind to our children, demonstrating how they make the bowls and explaining the process patiently again and again. The products are lovely - of very high quality, and very reasonably priced. They carefully wrapped every item we purchased and everything made it home perfectly!
Highly, highly recommend. We will be back! We will also be telling the travel agencies we know about it.

There are a vast number of maioliche ceramic potters in the wonderful town of Deruta, located in the Umbria region of Italy. Do not miss a visit to Rolando and Goffredo Nulli at 142 Via Tibernia. (about 30 minutes out of Todi).
We visited on a hot day in July and met one of the brothers who spent quite a bit of time with us discussing the history and his art. These are wheel thrown and individually painted pieces. They had a great selection from tableware, to lamps. holiday ornaments and beautiful large bowls and vases, etc. My husband has thrown pots as a hobby for many years and was thrilled to be asked to go downstairs and invited to sit down at the wheel and throw a piece under the watchful eye of the owner.
We bought several pieces. They were shipped and arrived as promised. All of our gift recipients loved their ceramics.
One suggestion, we were so involved with visiting different shops we almost missed driving to the top of old Deruta. The museum was fascinating and the town midevil and beautiful.

We had the most wonderful time visiting this store in May. It was the Italian Labor Day or worker's day so many people were taking the day off. We wrote ahead of our trip to ask if they would be open that day and approximate time of our arrival. Rolando was there and waiting for us. He was a very nice man and very helpful. He even threw a bowl to show us the process. What a lovely time we had. Everything was gorgeous and I wanted it all. The coolers are vivid and all hand painted. What artists he and his brother are! Don't miss this shop in Deruta (not far from Assissi).

We had a nice time browsing the shops in Deruta, but the experience at Maioliche Nulli was best. Rolando is so kind and funny- he even let us take a try at the pottery wheel. His creations are beautiful and well priced. Definitely check him out :)

I went into the shop in the middle of August. I was welcomed warmly by the owner who kindly showed me around the shop and explained the process behind the creation of the beautiful ceramic pieces (in Italian of course, of which I understand very little but he was incredibly patient.) Then he took me downstairs and demonstrated how a plate was made on the pottery wheel. He showed me how to use the wheel and even took a few photos of me trying it out! Truly, a magical experience. The prices are fair and you shouldn't miss going.

Rolando welcomed us with a grin and immediately explained the differences in the prices and quality of the ceramics. He took us down to the workshop and quickly threw a bowl while I shot a video. We went to several other shops and could tell just how talented he is. Stop by, enjoy the banter and high quality, reasonably priced ceramics.

This particular place is relatively hidden compared to the larger obvious ones as you come in to town from the south but it is filled wall to wall with amazing pieces. The two brothers who run the place are warm, friendly, good humored and all to happy to go out of their way to help you. We were lucky enough to have a demonstration while there purchasing additional pottery for family back home and a few things for ourselves. Highly recommend.
