About
Since 1500 the Grazia Family has been committed to producing high quality majolica ceramics using handicraft traditions passed down from generation to generation. The family prides itself on continuing there traditions in the production of modern day masterpieces. Grazia majolica is distinguished by its superior glazing which enhances the color and by the high skill of its painters. "The Economist" magazine drew up a world classification of privately held, family run businesses and the Grazia Factory ranked 13th on the list.

We really enjoyed meeting Ubaldo and having him share with us the history of this family company. The workmanship is amazing and the time that goes into making each individual piece is invaluable. He showed us around his workshop as well as his office where we could see some of the pieces that have been around for years. This company has been contracted by Sax Fifth Avenue, Nieman Marcus and Tiffany's for dinnerware collections.

If in Deruta, among the zilion ceramic shops, you must visit Grazia Maioliche, owned by Dr. Ubaldo. You will find some of the most creative and exquisite ceramics, non only the classic Deruta designs but also redescovered Tiffany designs (the sardines), the Api, Raffaello, William Morri, etc. Not cheap, but reasonable. A MUST go shop, plus there is a the great Grazia museum.

You wouldn't think going to a store would be an experience, nor would you expect a showroom to take your breath away. I'm not one for shopping or fancy dishes but stopped in to Grazia Maioliche to purchase a souvenir piece and ended up purchasing an entire set. The staff was delightful and patient because there are so many selections to make. Once the purchase was made, we were taken on a tour of the factory which isnt really a factory in the grand scale, more of a delightful workshop. If you are lucky, the patriarch will be on site and give you a tour himself!! You also get to see all of the things they don't show on line. Need a table with inlay majollica? Mirror frame of inlay majollica? They have a lot to see and it is all stunning. To be clear, you are not just buying a set of dishes or whatnot, this is art. Hand crafted, hours to create, historical, art. It is worth every penny or worth the visit even if you don't purchase (you do not get a tour if you don't purchase, fair enough, its a working business, not a museum). And if you are shipping it home, wait until you see how clever they package your order! I cannot recommend this place enough, an all around wonderful experience.

If in Deruta you cannot miss Grazia Maioliche, the oldest artisanal Majolica makers in Deruta. Their work, supervised by Ubaldo Grazia his extraordinary. The designs from classic to modern are unique, as the variety of objects. DO NOT miss it.

A highly recommended detour if you are near Perugia. Had a great tour of the factory by Chiara, owner's daughter and learned about the entire manufacturing process. Watching the artists paint was my favorite part of the tour. Chiara was knowledgeable and speaks English beautifully. Grazia is one of the few companies that does the complete production process in-house. Their work is considered the best because their painters are highly skilled. Ask to see the owner's office off the painting room, which is filled with pieces created by Grazia master painters. I placed an order for dinnerware that will be made with my monogram in the center....was told it will take a few months...can't wait! Thanks Chiara

We wanted to visit the Grazia factory because of its known excellence. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Stefania who showed us around and carefully explained the artistic process. Dr. Ubaldo Grazia chatted with us and told us about the factory's history over the generations and centuries. The showrooms were filled with beautiful hand-crafted ceramics. An unparalleled artistic experience that I will remember each time I look at the gorgeous maiolica pieces I acquired there. This is the place!

One of our stops with our small group tour, in and around Tuscany, was Grazia Maioliche in Deruta. Ubaldo the patriarch was very charming and personable. He led us on a most interesting tour where we observed various stages of the hand produced process. Watching the artists hand paint the pieces was a real treat.
The small museum on site containes pieces representing the 500 years the company has been in existence and celebrates its rich history.
After viewing the process and quality we decided to purchase a complete set of dishes as well as individual pieces for family and friends. The showroom is roomy and organized. Chiara, Ubaldo’s daughter, was very personable and helpful with the selection process. There was absolutely no sales pressure!
If you want the true original, not the low quality knock offs sold in many ceramics stores, this is your place!

Forget the others, and don't buy in the historical center (way too expensive). This is the place to get your maioliche!

This is definitely one of the finest ceramics factories in the area, and the English-language competence of the staff makes it a good stop for English-speakers who want to know more. If you want to buy "high art" pieces (which always have high prices), then this is an excellent stop for you. However, if you just want to pick up a Deruta-style plate or cup, then you can get the same stuff across the street for a much lower price. So, come here to learn and if you want to buy high-end product; but if you just want to pick up some basic simple Deruta ceramics, the other options along the road are more economical.

You know they are the ones who do it right. Watch their videos on You Tube on how long their family has been doing this. They take the dirt right from the quarry close by and make the product. They painstakingly paint each piece. It is a must shop when in the area of Umbria.

Will they do chicken jugs to special order (paint them to order). I'very had one for 45 years but it fell on the floor & I don't like the modern designs.

Can you drive into Deruta to park to visit, or is it restricted driving for locals only? If it is restricted, where is the best place to park? Grazie!
