    Wonderful Ashford Castle
If you ever get the chance, stay st Ashford Castle in Cong, Co Mayo, Ireland. My friend and I just completed our third trip to Ireland and the fist stay at Ashford. It is everything we thought it would be and more. Its history is incredible, the atmosphere is exquisite, the dining venues are varied, with amazing and delicious food. Had the Salmon in the Dungeon, and it was off the chart, good! The grounds are beautiful with many photographic moments to take home with you! You can ride horses, golf, take a lake cruise, or do a Hawk Walk, all available from the Castle grounds. We did the Hawk Walk. The hotel staff are kind, accommodating, and first rate, both professional and personally! I cannot say enough about Ashford Castle! If you want to stay in a real castle, this is the one! Slainte ☘️ Ashford Castle, and thank you for making us feel like Royalty!!!

    Awesome Walk with Hawks
Walk with Hawks experience was an incredible experience and one we definitely recommend. Our Falconer, Tommy put us at ease with the Avery and chatted about the birds, their personalities, their history, but he was so passionate about their welfare, it truly made us feel at ease to do the walk. We were shown how to wear the glove, the hand movement the birds recognise (I don’t want to give too much away) and he would be with us every step of the way. Our birds were short winged Harris Hawks ….Millie and Ethan (forgive me, I’m unable to recall his full Irish name but it sounded like Ethan.) He liked hunting ducks for Tommy to retrieve!! Millie was very cheeky at swooping between hubby and myself as we walked…..the sound as she swooped so close together with the rush of wind is something we shall never forget. Ethan was a little lazy and loved a release off my arm. The whole experience exceeded our expectations of simply watching birds of prey fly….we were introduced to a snippet of their world ….all thanks to Tommy our Falconer and the amazing team he works with. Thank you

    Birthday Fit For A Queen
From the moment I arrived I felt like queen of the castle. The suite, restaurants, pubs, spa services, reception, staff, grounds, extra curricular activities were all superb in every way. I highly recommend this as the number one hotel in Ireland. It was like living in the past with modern amenities. It was a glorious experience as I celebrated my 70th birthday and the hotel celebrated me beyond my wildest expectations. Thank you. I will always have fond memories as did my children and grandchildren.

    Magical Honeymoon Experience!
I am writing to express our heartfelt thanks for the unforgettable experience we had during our recent honeymoon at your enchanting castle. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The staff's attentiveness and care made us feel truly special throughout our stay. The castle itself is a masterpiece, seamlessly blending history with modern luxury. Our room was a sanctuary of comfort and elegance, providing a perfect retreat after days of exploration. The culinary delights were a highlight. Each meal was a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the expertise of your talented chefs. Dining in such a regal setting was an experience in itself. Exploring the castle's grounds was a joy. The meticulously maintained gardens and the serene lake provided a tranquil backdrop for our adventures. Our time at Ashford Castle was simply magical. Every detail was carefully considered, creating an atmosphere of pure romance and splendor. Thank you for providing us with memories that will last a lifetime. Your dedication to excellence is evident in every aspect of our stay. More than 5 Stars.....10 Stars!!

    Best hotel ever
I couldn't have been any happier with my stay here, unless if it was longer! Beautiful grounds, my room was special and had an awesome view. I took the hawk walk with Miguel which was outside my comfort zone but he took his time to make sure our group was great. Dinner had excellent food and service, but breakfast was even better! Hope to return someday.

A wonderful return to Ashford Castle
When I last reviewed Ashford Castle I titled it "if only once in your life time one should visit . How lucky am I to have returned!...and it was as I remembered it....Regal and stunningly beautiful. Our room was lovely with a fireplace and stunning view of the lake. All of the rooms differ in décor . When last here we enjoyed the falconry, horseback riding, skeet shooting so on this occasion it was a more sedate visit. We strolled the grounds and of course with the Castle Hounds, visited the health spa which has recently been remodeled where we enjoyed the stunning relaxation pool ( It was spectacular and must be visited) along with a wonderful massage and then time in a relaxation room overlooking the river and the trees as their leaves turned golden. We enjoyed morning breakfast in the George V dining room, it was not to be missed. (don't pass up the French toast. yummy) we also enjoyed an evening meal in George V as well and be alert that there is a dress code for dinner. For a more casual dinning experience we enjoyed the Dungeon and Cullen's at the Cottage. I would suggest that you plan reservations for dinning. What makes Ashford most special, THE PEOPLE. To a person everyone is helpful, engaging, friendly and often anticipated our needs. While this was a return, I am hopeful to have others!!

Excellent hands-on falconry walk! Expert guidance, hands-on experience throughout the walk. Suitable for all, including people with disabilities or neurodiversity, although best to phone in advance to discuss anticipated issues.

    Excellent international spa
First visit to Ashford Castle and feared cautious careful approach synonymous with leading hotels but pleased this was not the case. Excellent skilled massage treatment from Cynthia whose power and experience was a pleasant surprise when providing a Swedish massage treatment. Careful discussion pre commencement built confidence both therapist to guest and vice versa. This allowed specific focus to the treatment and minimised the need to pause the massage at any stage. Full confidence and trust in your massage therapist is key to allowing the treatment to progress smoothly and Cynthia was excellent with tailoring the intensity to my request. Leading hotels like Ashford Castle benefit hugely from having truly international specialists in all areas of their hospitality market and the Spa and Wellness area is a winner to have staff bringing this experience to their team. Bravo!

Extremely disappointing experience. I bought afternoon tea gift voucher as a present for my parents. They travelled from Dublin to Galway in the hope they could use their voucher over the weekend. Only to be told that afternoon tea is for residents only and maybe could be used in October . The member of staff I spoke to could not be sure of this. I appreciate Covid 19measures must be in place but it should be made clear when purchasing (very expensive 🎁) gift vouchers that these may not be redeemed by non residents. Very disappointed in the service and knowledge of staff as to the procedures around this.

From the moment we arrived we received the warmest of Irish welcomes and wonderful hospitality from the amazing staff at Ashford Castle. The castle has been lovingly restored and our room which overlooked the lake, had a sumptuous four poster bed. Food at breakfast was delicious and definitely set us up for the day. They even have a juice sommelier! In the evening we dined in both the Dungeon (more casual bistro style) and the more formal George V (gents require a jacket). Even though the George V is more formal, service is still warm and friendly and not at all stuffy or staid. The castle has some fantastic facilities. We had a lovely massage in the spa. The only slight downside was I didn't realise that you had to book to use the relaxation pool in advance due to COVID restrictions. By the time we got there it was fully booked, but massage was lovely all the same. A couple of other things I can't recommend highly enough are the Hawk Walk at the Falconry school. It was such an amazing experience and our guide Tommy was great craic. And of course a visit to see the gorgeous Garvan and Cronan, the resident Irish wolfhounds! Such handsome gentle giants! There are also tours of the lake but sadly due to inclement weather ours was cancelled
If you are planning a trip to the west of Ireland, Ashford is definitely the place to stay. We will definitely be returning !

We stayed in Ashford castle recently and it was one of the best experiences we ever had staying anywhere. We have never been dealt with such excellent customer service before. The staff in Ashford castle from reception, doorman, cleaners, restaurant staff, bar staff, etc were the most friendly and attentive we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The facility itself is one of the best in the world as I'm sure many people are aware but what makes this place best in its field is without doubt its superb staff. Thank you very much Ashford castle!

We had a truly unforgettable experience at Ashford Castle. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and so comfortable. Every member of staff was wonderful - from receptionists to bar staff to wait staff in the restaurants. I could not fault a single part of the stay. The food was wonderful and as a coeliac it was so lovely to be able to tell one person at the start of my stay and not to have to keep repeating myself - it’s honestly the first time I’ve experienced such service in an Irish hotel. The room was beautiful - not huge but super comfortable. We took the boat cruise which was a lovely way to spend an hour and informative even for us Irish tourists. The drawing room was one of the most comfortable spots in the hotel and you could spend hours here having drinks and just enjoying the lake view. Breakfast was the best I’ve ever had in an Irish hotel and dinners as really special. We will definitely be back next year as soon as we can get a booking!

We did horse back riding here because you can’t even get into the castle area without and appointment . There is a huge gate at the road then a long winding road up to another bridge then through to the castle. They don’t even want you on the grounds if you are not staying here. Signs all over saying for guest entry only. If I could of afforded it I would have tried to stay one night but for 3600€ a night ( that’s almost 5000.00 Canadian a night) . I wish I would have got Covid prices.
The grounds are huge and this place is gorgeous, I wish I was able to go in for a drink.
Horseback riding
It was really nice strolling through the woods and around to the castle. Jenny our guide was really sweet and took pics for us. Over all I really enjoyed it

Truly a fairytale and magical experience. From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty and so many people are wanting to help and make your stay there fabulous. Our only regret was we should have stayed 2 nights or longer! We did have time in the 1 day/night to take some lovely walks on the grounds and to the local village, had afternoon tea in the Connaught Room (highly recommend!) and a delicious breakfast in the main dining room. The rooms are wonderful and very comfortable!
Highly recommend splurging for this castle experience!

Dinner in George V was the best I have ever experienced .
The food was first class and the service matched. Attentive but also relaxed I felt the service easy and special . Robert looked after us for the evening And we felt that we were the only ones there .

Breakfast the following morning was also amazing . There was a juice trolley and a ham carved trolley moving around the grand room .
It is old fashioned Irish service but also adhered to the Covid regulations .
We felt well looked after and also in a safe environment .
We will definitely return . Sandra

I spent a fabulous night at Ashford Castle. We really were treated like royalty from the minute we arrived. The welcome and friendliness of the staff was truly special, a real authentic Irish welcome.
We stayed in the most beautiful Kennedy suite, followed by fine dinning where we were greeted by Mr Niall Rochford (Manager) and restaurant Manager Mr Robert Bowe, who really looked after us for our most AMAZING meal.
The following morning, our breakfast was absolutely superb and looked after by Cillian O’Neill and the O’Connor sisters.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, from both Bridleen and Annette.

Recently back from a stay at Ashford Castle with family to celebrate a special occasion and overall our experience was lovely, from the welcome we received at the front gate to the orientation tour we got from the lovely reception staff. The castle itself is luxurious without feeling imposing and the staff throughout are attentive without being intrusive. There were a couple of minor issues which I wanted to highlight. On arrival we received a welcome drink which was appreciated and we brought to our room after checking in. We didn’t finish the drink but left our glasses in the room assuming they would be removed when the room was serviced. They weren’t. They were left in the room for two days until we asked the concierge if someone could collect them. We also ran out of toilet paper and again assumed this would be replaced when the room was serviced. It wasn’t and again this was something we had to ask the concierge to look into. To be fair both issues were resolved immediately but when you’re staying in five star hotel these are the kinds of issues you expect will be dealt with automatically without having to request it. We were staying in deluxe queen which is positioned on the website as being suitable for families. The room was beautifully decorated but there was very little wardrobe space and no drawer space at all. Finally the spa was beautiful but the jets in the spa pool weren’t working. In a spa of this calibre you expect everything to be functioning perfectly but this wasn’t the case. The facial was wonderful however. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ashford Castle. The food was superb in all the restaurants and dinner in the George V was a highlight. Just a few small points that could be improved upon especially given its 5 star status.
