We missed the opportunity to visit this place the last time we drove to Havana so wanted to make sure we stopped this time.
So many recommended this little stop. They are well known for their pina coladas and they did not disappoint! The lookout was beautiful and the live music was amazing. Great experience!

This highest bridge in Cuba, 110 meter over canyon grounds, was built 1958 over a canyon near river Yumuri, separating Cuban provinces Matanzas and La Habana.
On the west side of the bridge there is a restaurant and a viewpoint, where is possible to park a car and enjoy breathtaking views of the palmwoods and sea from the height of some 120 meters. Not many tourist buses stop here, and it is possible to eat and rest in quiet surroundings here. There are also tourist shops with souvenirs and clothes, toilets and camping place here.
The turn to the viewpoint and restaurant lies some 20-30 meters sharp to the right after crossing the bridge in direction from Matanzas to Havana. This turn is easy to miss if not prepared, although it is signed as Mirador de Bacunayagua.

When you stop at the bar next to the bridge, you can take beautiful pictures of the Yumuri Valley, totally worthy!

Bacunayagua bridge is the wonder of Cuban Architecture. There is a beautiful view from the bridge on untouched beautiful nature. We traveled from Varadero to Havana. After Matanzas we crossed the bridge and stopped at a nearby restaurant to rest and see the bridge. The bridge is beautiful, the largest on Cuba and the view from the gallery was beautiful. We were delighted by the band who played beautiful Cuban music. But best of all, it was Pina Colada, fresh and delicious.

This is the main stop between Havana and Varadero Beach. It is known for their piña coladas and the delightful views of the highest bridge in Cuba. They have a few vendors and a shop on the lower floor

Been going back there for 18 years and it never stops to amaze me. One of the marvels of pre-Castro Cuba. The mirador is a great place to get a drink and just look at the bridge and its surroundings, all the way to the Valle de Yumari.

This is a beautiful stopover on your route to La Habana, they sell the best Pina Colada you can get in Cuba probably. A must-try.

Off main highway that goes to and from Havana. There is a great view of valley and of ocean. Little restaurant serving beverages and I think food. Also bathrooms.

Depending on which bus tour you take, I guess. We took taxi to Havana so they stop. I saw few buses too but not sure if all does or not.

How far is varadero from Puente de Bacunayagua?

It is about 50 minutes as it is close to halfway between a little further from Matanzas City on the other side of it, to the end of the province of Matanzas. The bridge spans the end if the province of Matanzas into the province of Habana. You then follow just inward of the coastal area of the province of Habana and go by Playa del Este until you get into the City of Havana.
