    Great Golf Holiday!
Just returned from a weeklong golf holiday playing at Iberostar Golf Playa Paraiso. We are a couple and booked the 5 round package. The days we were playing (early Dec 2023) there were large groups booked so they were doing 8:30 shotgun starts for everybody or tee times after 1:00. We booked with the 8:30 starts (one month in advance) for our rounds and thought it worked out great with everything being very well run like clockwork. This allows everyone to have a morning golf round even if there is a large group and the pace was always good (all our rounds were just over 4 hours). The conditions of the course are fantastic. Cart service was good (3-4 times in a round). Driving range and practice green in good condition. Lunch and breakfast are available at the course. We only had lunch there once, but was good (surprisingly vegetarian options!). They aren't kidding when they say to keep your stuff secured from the Coati on the course. The peacock on the outside patio of the course has learned from the Coati and will also just wander up slowly and then quickly snatch food from your plate. (-:

    Better than most resort courses
Great experience. Rental clubs were on the new side and in good condition. Course was in great shape. More challenging than most resort courses. Fun but challenging. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pace of play was good. A bit pricey but that's what I expected.

This is a fantastic course but the one major difference since my glowing review in 2016 is that now they are charging for the golf carts. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand which gives unlimited golf here. On a per person basis each cart rental was 1,350 pesos or $85 Canadian dollars. So to take my family for "free golf" cost $340 Canadian each time which is just ridiculous.

Apparently this changed about two years ago - this is not a welcome change and since this was the main reason that we kept coming back to the Iberostar resort I think we will be looking elsewhere in the future.

A great time, with wide open tee time here in later August. Meanders through the jungle with various animals visiting you (and your cart looking for food). We did not see any Dinosaurs.

As a mediocre golfer (some bogeys, rare par, +/- lost 6 balls a round) I enjoyed the interesting (= difficult) holes, too.

Golf here, cheaper if you stay on site, like $125 vs $179, but varies seasonally. Staff and ground teams are friendly and helpful.

The Playa Paraiso course is one of the most difficult courses that I have every played and I have played courses all over the world. This PB Dye design has many hills and valleys in the fairways and on the greens. If you miss the fairway balls will roll to the waste areas and into the woods. The course is very well maintained and the greens, fairways and tees were in excellent shape. I played Mayakoba one day and the Playa Paraiso Course is much better and cheaper. Do not waste your money on Mayakoba. The pro shop staff were very friendly and the drinks and food on the course was great.

We have stayed in many exceptionally beautiful hotels around the world and the Grand Paraiso from Iberostar rates eight at the top. We can’t rave enough about its ambience, its staff, its services, its food and specialty restaurants and the whole package. It is first rate from beginning. The welcoming staff, the personal butler Luis Lopez and his associate, Marianna, assured us throughout our weeks stay to be sure we had an exceptional experience. These two professional butlers sought us each day to ensure that our needs were met and our experience at the Grand Paraiso was more than we expected. They, along with so many other Emily and happy staff members ensured a vacation that was over the top. Book at the Grand Paraiso and have the experience of a lifetime. We plan to return again and again!

This club overcharged us and now won't give us a refund. We (total of 2 golfers) played here and bought a golf package via a 3rd party that included golf at another course plus transportation. So our golf was pre-paid. We rented 2 sets of clubs for a total of $65, only to realize two days later that they charged my credit card $650. That's much more than if we had just walked up and paid directly for a tee time. We followed up via phone calls and they refused to refund the golf fees, so they got paid twice. Be careful on what they charge your credit here!

As for the course....Positives: beautiful grounds that were incredibly challenging. Deep hills and lots of sand traps. Well maintained and scenic. Negatives: Greens had too much sand and were too fast on short chip shots and wedges. Balls weren't sticking at all to greens even on good approach shots. The beverage cart was complimentary food and beverages, but the only food was packaged granola cookies and some chips. No candy bars which I would have paid for just to have some available.

My wife and I played 8 times on our recent 10 day trip. The course is in immaculate condition and has 4 sets of tees ranging from about 4700 yards for ladies to 6700 from the "tips".

Water is present on several holes but is, for the most part easily avoided. It's far more difficult to avoid the "jungle" which lines most holes. However, the most challenging part by far is the greens which are mostly surrounded by mounds and sand traps. The grain on bermuda grass can make a downhill shot stick like velcro and one up a hill run quickly. You can definitely score on this course but you can also quickly burn strokes if you're not careful!

We saw beverage carts 4-5 times per round and there's an igloo box on the cart with ice. The quality of the golf course is a major factor in our desire to return here!

This is an amazingly beautiful and well-maintained course. The shorter holes are tricky with many undulating hills and bunkers. The longer holes are wide and forgiving... until you get close to the greens. A really fun course, truly. I think what keeps me from making this a 5 star rating were all the previous reviews that built it up so much with the amenities that my expectations were quite high. I was really excited to play here, but felt let down with the overall experience. It's a great course, the amenities are... meh at best. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

We got there early just in time for a fresh rush of players eager to get started before the heat and humidity of the day started taking hold and melting us all in our polyester golf getups. We were all back to back waiting for players ahead and players waiting behind. No biggie, that's how it goes, but try telling my nerves that! Ok, that's my problem, I know, I know. No coffee or refreshments beforehand as the clubhouse doesn't open until 8 so have your coffee and breakfast before your early morning tee time. I recommend this course but keep your expectations in check: it's a visually stunning location; fun and challenging course; the amenities are average; staff is great; don't sweat the lost balls and you'll have a fabulous time.

Excellent golf course designed by P.B.Dye, some really great holes and definitely one of the best in theis area. The course was in excellent shape. All inclusive green fee with food and drinks is a winner. Higly recommended.
