We did 10 dives in addition to the Enriched Air (Nitrox) course at Coral Point Diving. The staff were excellent. (I apologize if I mis-spell any names, I didn't think to note name spellings at the time!)
Natalie, who seemed to be most often taking care of logistics and the office, was very helpful, pleasant, and kind. She arranged transport to and from our hotel in Dominicus by taxi most days.
Edmund, our instructor for the nitrox course and our guide for several days, was excellent. He was very helpful, happy to share knowledge and give advice, and helpfully recommended an excellent local eco-tour as well. My wife was a little anxious as she was out of practice diving, but Ed quickly made her comfortable, gave her tips, helped her to improve her technique, and increased her confidence. Ed is an excellent instructor and dive guide, and we would recommend him for anyone, but especially children or a nervous adult.
Moritz guided for us one day, and he was great as well, very calm and clearly attentive to his whole group underwater. Isi and Bex assisted our dive guides several days and, with the other staff, carried our heavy equipment onto and off the boats every day. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Ben and Fiona added information and tips about various courses and diver development processes to look into in the future as well.
Rafa guided us one day as well, and when we encountered an illegal fishing line broken off and left on the reef in the national park, he carefully and gently freed two living fish from the abandoned hooks, and then VERY carefully freed a hooked stingray as well. Although clearly it was a risk of injury to himself to free the ray, he wisely turned it inverted to prevent it lashing out in fear and was able to remove the hook from its mouth. It would certainly have died if left trapped, and we were in only about 5M depth. The ray was successfully rescued and swam away.
Paula guided for us on our last day, and was very helpful and informative as well, taking care to point out unique marine life as well as telling us anecdotes about the dive sites and wrecks.
Excellent experience on all dives, the St. George and the Peñon and Tortuga dives are certainly not to be missed.
