Even if you're not a believer this cathedral is amazing, it's stunning from both the outside and inside. The area around the cathedral didn't inspire confidence in us but there's a huge parking lot just behind it, so you can park in safety (there's a...More
We visited the Catedral as part of a day-long Hispaniola Tour. It is both beautiful and impressive and I would definitely recommend that everyone traveling to this area visit and really take this in while you are here. One other important note: You should also...More
It is the patron saint of the Dominican Republic, and in her honor this extraordinary and beautiful building was built. It is not anymore just a simple monument, it is a place where people are making promises to Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in order...More

The Higuey Basilica was one of the stops on our excursion from Punta Cana. The entry was included in our package, so I do not know the fee price. Our tour guide provided information about the structure and the history of the Basilica, as well...More
A beautiful gift from the country is Spain. The Basilica is visable from all points in the city. Truly the dominant structure and well worth the stop. I love Higuey as it is 'real' and not the poofy over the top resort world that most...More
The Basilica is gorgeous & history very interesting. Do not pay for a guide! The guides are aggressive & don't add much value. Do go visit the museum, which is well worth the price of admission for an interesting perspective on the history & a...More
This the location of one of the great Christian pilgrimages. I would recommend this highly. Tourists from Punta Cana can easily take the public transit system which drops passengers directly in from of the Basilica.
