About
The museum is again open after the COVID-19 pandemic. Here you can see numerous different minerals, fossils, rocks and crystals. Being an interactive museum, you will also have the chance to touch and hold many of them in your hands when you visit us. You will be sure to learn a lot about the geology of Olympus and Greece, properties of the minerals and other interesting facts that will travel you through the centuries. By visiting at night you will also have a chance to look through our telescope and observe a couple of planets and the moon, if the weather allows it. We are primarily giving tours in Greek, Serbian and English. We will be awaiting for your arrival!

- Bernardo GGlenelg, Australia4 contributionsAbsolutely Excellent experience. We conveniently went to the museum after dinner and were warmly welcomed with an excellent tour of the museum. Extending well beyond the classic geology and mineralogy, Giorgios’s tour blesses one with knowledge gems of history, astronomy, etymology, chemistry, mythology that will be remembered for a long time. My 10yo son stayed for 3 hours and had an amazing time. Rest assured that this is no ordinary visit to a museum but an unforgettable experience taking you through thousands of years of greek history and a good couple of millions as far as the soil is concerned. A must go in the Olympus area.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 27, 2024
- Nancy S8 contributionsNORMALLY, I am NOT a museum lover but the owners (father and son)explain everything and are so interesting and enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subjects of GEOLOGY, history, and archeology - you can't help but enjoy your time! We spent a couple of hours there! The night time telescope is nice too!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 31, 2024
- ΚΑΤΕΡΙΝΑ Μ3 contributionsGreat experience...especially for kids!!! Interactive tour...excellent the owner and puts the love and passion he has in what he does!!! We learned a lot of things that we didn't know and gave us the trigger to search for information about many of them.. congratulations for this wonderful work...I think there is no other like this museum..it may be small not to have the "specifications" of a museum bureaucratically but it is what children need...a man with humor with love for children and the wonderful contagion and the transmission of knowledge to them!!! Thank you very much ❤️Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 4, 2024

I give warm recommendation for visiting this museum. It is a family museum, the owners are very professional and passionate about geology. You can learn a lot about geology of the Olympus and the region, see a nice collection of the rocks and fossils, some art pieces that are work of the owners of the museum, and you can also watch the sky above Leptokarya with telescope. Ticket prices are symbolic, only 2 euros, so don't miss the opportunity if you are somewhere near.

We visited the Geological History Museum during our trip to Northern Greece last month and we were pleasantly surprised. We did not expect to have such a personable, in-depth overview of Greece and Mount Olympus' geological history, and made incredibly enjoyable through George's innate teaching talents. The whole exhibit displays countless fossils and minerals, some of which are even from the famed Lavrio mines he introduced us to. We eventually got an unexpected surprise after the geological exhibit and George took us to his historical art exhibit. Here he painted a bountiful amount of historical scenes, ranging from the great pyramids to Alexander the Great. This was an unforgettable experience and we highly recommend a visit with kids, friends, or anyone who wants to learn.

The museum is set up in a private house, but it doesn't make the museum less interesting at all! The son of the owner gave me a very insightful and knowledgeable tour of all the minerals that can be found near Olympus. It gives you a lot of geological background of the area and it's a great way to start touring places near Olympus Range. I'd highly recommend going there! Sadly I had to cut my visit short, because I visited the museum during a bus tour of the Olympus area. But if you do have time to spare, do yourself a favour and visit this interesting museum!

We were greeted by a very intelligent young man, who showed us the starting point to our night, he introduced us to his very welcoming mum at the beginning of the tour. We did not book to go nor did we expect such an in debt tour. We were just a party of two, an English couple who left mind blown and impressed. The family business shined with love, compassion, and experience. Very good English spoken, and very good knowledge passed on. In this museum it is different to every other museum, we were able to go in and find out any information we wanted by asking questions to the young man and his father also, trust me my partner had A LOT of questions to ask, and there was not one they could not answer! We also got to touch the pieces on show which is unique compared to other museums also! As we went at night time, we were there past closing time! Just genially having a laugh and a good time! We got to look out on the balcony with a very huge impressing telescope and see the planets and stars! A night we will truly never forget. And the entertainment came just soo naturally. Certainly was one of the best highlights of our visit back in 2017. Thank you again, and I hope you will forever be able to share your knowledge and interests!

This small independent museum is a must see. It may not sound very interesting but believe me the owner and his wife are full of funny tales, information and knowledge and are keen to share it in a way that will hold the interest of children and adults.

Museum built by the owner and guide in one person who invested a lot to this project, not just his money and its obvious from the very first step in.
By very interesting and funny talk the owner or his wife will guide you through this museum full of collections from Mt Olympus and you will leave with a lot of new knowledge.
You don' t speak English? No worries, they speak a lot of languages - czech, serbian, polish, slovak, german and I bet many others.
Definitely worth visit even when you are not a real museum lovers. I am not either but this one is different.

We heard a lot of amazing facts about Olympus. The hosts were very kind. We learned a lot about Orpheus, about Alexander the Great and geology in general. We also had a chance to look at the planets Mars and Saturn through a telescope. We could clearly see the ring around Saturn.

This is a museum which you will remember forever and later enjoy with your friends many conversations from the flood of information that you learnt and that sticks in the mind. It all has to do with the style of the presentation. Thanks. Very enjoyable experience.
