We stayed in Afytos for a week and would definitely recommend. After spending some time at a couple of beach bars on Afytos we decided to rent a car to explore some other beaches. It is fair to say there are plenty of beautiful beaches around the coastline but we thought Afytos was definitely the nicest. Some had softer sand, some had water sports but as an all rounder, this was the best. The water is clearer(maybe the clearest I’ve ever seen), there is much more space...if you take your own umbrella you can literally sit on your own. This may have something to do with the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic though... Whilst sitting on various other beaches I found myself wishing I was back on Afytos beach. The only downside is the very loud music playing from one of the beach bars...but you can avoid this by walking further round.

Fine beach, hire a paddle board, snorkeling sea not deep near the beach. Great bar food and drinks. A bit of a climb up and down, not brilliant for old and informed.

We visited Afytos several times and it always leaves good memories. The unique and old willage is placed on the top of rocks so view of sea is amazing! However it takes some efforts to climb uphill so car is better option. The beach is mostly sandy, clean, sunbeds are available, just you need to pay 10 eur in one area and price included in order of meals in the other area. Lidl is very close and few smaller shops inside willage and plently of restaurants some have impressive sea view.
