Very nice excursion

Really nice views. We did a 7km walk with our children of 7 & 10. Good car service from Covadonga to the lakes.

I've never seen anything so picturesque. There are cows grazing as far as the eye can see on emerald grass surrounding a clear lake framed buy mountains. You get to walk around. You get to sit around. You get to take pictures. Wow.

On leaving the car park where the bus drops you, or on quitter days, where you have parked, take PR 2. Depending on your fitness this exceptional walk around both lakes will take you 90 minutes to 2 hours. It is total bliss, and one of the finest walks we have ever undertaken in Spain. The views all round atbeverybtwistvand... More

This was our first trip up into the mountains from Cangas de Onis. It was an awesome drive to get there, with roads you expect in a mountain range. With stops along the way the only thing you hear are the cow bells. They do roam free, so you do have to be careful. We were there in third week... More

This has to be one of the most remarkable and memorable things we've done. The views of the mountains and lakes is breathtaking. We took the route no. 2 that is a circular track which includes the two main lakes and takes a couple of hours. Follow the horizontal white and yellow lines marked on the rocks. The route takes... The drive is not for the faint-hearted but is well worth the scary moments. In actual fact the road is wide enough for two cars to pass for most of the way and you just need to take it slowly. In any event you do not want to rush as you will miss the fantastic views. There is a café... More

A great place to visit with children. The views are amazing, the drive up very beautiful with changing scenery. And the landscape inviting, great for a short walk. The lakes are stunning, with a backdrop of snowcapped mountains.

It's worth visiting the lakes, particularly if you enjoy narrow twisty roads, climbing high into the Picos with lovely scenery, often disappearing in the clouds, meeting lots of horned cattle on the way. The lakes are nice & there are walks for the energetic, so worth the trip.

The drive up is not for under-confident drivers but there are plenty of passing places and as long as you bear in mind that there might be a cow or a flock of sheep just around the next corner, then you should be ok! The views are well worth the experience and there are several viewing points to stop for... More

The drive to the lakes is spectacular in itself, the lakes are pretty ordinary, however, an hours walk from the top and you can see some of the settlements used in the summer months by the sheppards, really worth doing.
