Alex was the perfect host, picking us up on time, attentive and informative throughout. Great visit to local vineyard, wine tasting and a visit to a local chocolatier. Unhurried and fun throughout. Highly recommended to anyone who comes to visit the area.

It was our first visit to Southwestern France and we were staying in the beautiful village of Duras. We wanted to visit a few wineries and the Bergerac Wine Tour was recommended to us. I contacted Alex abut setting up a tour and he responded quickly. He confirmed that the date we wanted to schedule was available and stayed in touch about where/what time we would be picked up in Duras. He contacted me a few times just to confirm our arrangements. Alex picked us up right on time and off we went. What a pleasant, fun guy! He told us a little bit about himself and the tour and said we would meet up with one other couple at the first winery. It was a beautiful drive to Chateau Lestevenie. There the winemaker, Roman, took us out into the vines and gave us a good background on the grapes and the process and the wine from that chateau. It was very interesting and he has such a passion for winemaking that it was palpable. After that explanation and great conversation with Roman we sat down at the outdoor tasting table. We tasted five wines and a bubbly. Excellent wine and we especially loved the bubbly! We bought two bottles and you should too! Included with the very reasonably priced wine tour was lunch at a lovely restaurant owned by Alex’s friend. I’m sorry I did not write down the name of the restaurant. There we sat outside on a pretty patio and had a salad, a main and dessert with wine. Absolutely delicious! From there Alex took us to a surprise location which may or may not have involved chocolate! We finished the day at a wine cooperative. Alex was basically our “guide” there and he explained the procedure and process. He is very knowledgeable and interesting. We then tasted four wines there. All delicious! From there he drove us back to Duras. We heartily recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed! As a final note, my husband left his phone at our 3rd stop of the day. Alex kindly called the place, asked them to hold it for him to pick up two days later. Alex then offered to drive back to Duras, after completing a tour, to return the phone. Definitely went above and beyond for us which was very much appreciated!

This wine tour was a highlight of our trip to France this year!
The pick up from our gite was on time, and we were driven straight to a local vineyard where the tasting began! We learned a lot about the wine making process before heading to a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. After that, we went to a bigger wine place, with more tasting, and the tour finished at a chocolate factory... More tasting here too! There's opportunity to buy wine throughout, and we came home with plenty of cases to keep us going!
Alex was a fantastic host - relaxed, engaging and knowledgeable.
We'd really recommend this tour, we thought it was great value, book it now!

We were picked up right on time and had a wonderful drive through the beautiful Dordogne countryside to pick up the four other guests. The mini bus was cool, even thought the weather was very hot. Alex our driver gave us some interesting information and answered our questions . The trip to the Vineyard was really informative without information overload. We tasted five different wines and our host was very generous with the amount of wine he provided for tasting. We then went to a restaurant, right in the middle of nowhere, where Fanny served an unpretentious, but delicious meal and there was more wine to go with the:meal. After lunch we made the journey back. We thought the trip was extremely enjoyable and very good value. We would recommend it.

The tour with Alex was excellent from start to finish. We were driven to a local vineyard where we met an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable wine maker, where we had a tour of the vineyard and tried some of the wines.
We had lunch in a super local restaurant which also provided us with superb vegan options and a carafe of wine of your choice.
At the wine cooperative, Alex gave us an insightful tour of the region's wine making then gave us some great wines to try. The final stop at the chocolate shop was so fun and interesting. Great tasting chocolate too!

From the minute I emailed Alex to the minute he dropped us back at the hotel after our day's tour, we were well looked after. Friendly, polite, professional and well organised throughout, Alex's knowledge was extensive. Great wines at a local vineyard where we learnt all about viticulture in the area, visited a co-operative and how it all works, two lots of wine tasting which showed the diversity of the grapes in the area, delicious! Lunch was 5 courses, all local produce and served with wine in the middle of the countryside. Finished at the chocolate mueseum where we were spoiled for choice as to what to bring back. Despite the heatwave, the minibus was relativel cool and plenty of opportunities to stay in the shade of needed. A brilliant, brilliant day! Thank you.

From the moment I contacted Alex, to the day of our tour he was totally professional, informative and very helpful as I am of limited mobility. He assured me this was no problem, and any issues could be accommodated, he was absolutely correct, and my husband and I had a wonderful day along with the 6 other people, 2 of whom were in an accompanying car to ensure room for my walking contraption, and one couples dog.
Alex is very knowledgeable about the whole area, we tried some beautiful wines and chocolates, got in trouble for not trying enough chocolate - but after such a delicious 4 course lunch we all struggled a bit with quantity.
Certainly, a day to recommend.

What a wonderful day out. A really nice variety of experiences - with some beautiful wines (and chocolate!). Even though I’d read the great reviews - it still far exceeded my expectations. Alex was great - so knowledgeable and really made the day fun and interesting. And the lunch was amazing! Would thoroughly recommend this, even our 2 boys (aged 10 and 11) had a great day

We visited two vineyards with our two friends and our baby boy in May this year.
Alex our tour guide was super friendly and informative and also took us for a delightful 4 course meal at a lovely little local restaurant which was fantastic.
The wine we tasted, we have ended up choosing as the wine we will have at our wedding this August 2022!
Perfect trip, couldn’t recommend enough!

Alex from Bergerac Wine Tours was a great host and picked us up from our farmhouse before driving to two different places (Chateau Lestevenie and a co-operative) to learn about wine production and try a variety of wines. We stopped off for an excellent three course lunch before ending the day at the Rody Chocolate factory were we were able to taste a lot of chocolate. The minibus sat 8 but our party of 6 were the sole occupants so we felt Covid safe and had plenty room for our boxes of wine! Thank you.

Hi Alex,
I’m enquiring about a wine tour. We are in Bergerac in September and we were looking at booking the tour for 23rd or 24th. There will be 4 of us. Could you let me know the cost and whether we could include lunch please?
Thank you,
Elaine.

Hi
We are traveling to Eymet in June with our two very well behaved dogs who are quite accustomed to sitting quietly at our feet while we drink wine!..is it possible to book a tour where the dogs could join us? Regards

Bonjour Janey,
Thank you for your inquiry. We often have dogs on our tours and it’s usually not a problem if rest of the group on the bus agrees to it. Please email us for further correspondence.

Hi Lynne
It's an excellent wine tour, make sure you have room to bring back a bottle or two of the Lestevenie wine!
As a family we loved eating at the Restaurant Italien des Arcades on the village square, amazing pizza. We would have liked to have tried the Peruvian restaurant opposite but didn't manage to get a booking, so if you would like to eat here then booking is advisable. Another great find was the Chouette Cafe, 25 Avenue des Marguerites. A lovely couple run this restaurant and the food is homecooked from a fixed menu. We had the most delicious pork and the best chips ever. Marie-Christine kindly offered to swap around the menus as my teenage son couldn't decide between the two!
Hope you enjoy your stay, such a lovely part of the world.
Kind regards
Pauline
