About
Corfu Gallery is located in Corfu Town, in one of the oldest streets, Nikiforou Theotoki. At Corfu Gallery we aspire to create an innovative and unique collection. A mosaic of arts. Our philosophy is that art covers the whole range of human creation and we aim to explore and demonstrate this. During the winter, we will host group and solo exhibitions. It is important to us to communicate at a human level with both our artists and you, our customers. Friendly relationships build mutual respect that help us run an effective, professional business. Our priorities include improving our services in creative and inventive ways, that mirror our artist’s approaches, enhance their work and are increasingly attractive to our customers. In Corfu Gallery we are promoting Greek art and creativity by hosting a wide range of artists from Corfu and across Greece. In this way we can highlight many different personal artistic “signatures”.

This gallery, its not a shop, is for serious art purchasers. The quality is high and so is the pricing, but it is all either limited edition or one of a kind work. It reminded me of the high end shops on Santorini. The gallery next door is very good as well.

We recently visited the gallery, with a window display that caught our eye. A day ir two later we revised having discussed on email a piece and are now the new custodians of a beautiful Olive tree for our anniversary ❤ the assistant was very helpful and packaged up our purchase to travel home with. Beware beautiful items that will call your name...

Corfu Gallery, run and owned by Leonidas with his assistant Joanna, is the only bona fide private gallery in old Corfu Town where the serious art collector can find pieces worth investing. For sure, there are other so called ateliers and art spaces around but these are often little more than self-indulgent enterprises by mediocre talents. Of course there are also many shops retailing mass produced paintings of the "tourist kitsch" variety -those badly executed, run of the mill fishing village scenes with the stereotypic garish colours - dazzling blue being the perennial standard - which passengers off the cruise liners can pick up for a song as a tacky souvenir. In contrast, Leonidas' outfit represents the roll call of the leading and emerging lights of the Greek contemporary art scene. And a quick survey of the works on display testifies to Leonidas' eclectic but discerning eye. In fact, stepping into his gallery is in itself an immersive, aesthetic experience : in other words, how the works are displayed is calibrated artistic praxis. When we visited, metallic olive trees by Aggelos Panagiotidis flank the entrance, while Aggelika Korovessi's striking sculpture 'Fisherman" offers a central focal point. One's sightlines are then drawn to Petro Stravoravdis' impasto style acrylic abstract figuratives on one wall while Spiros Sourzitnos wet colour washes light up another wall. At the rear is the ideogrammic minimalism of Elias Papanikolaou whose spare strokes speak volumes. One notices how Leonidas manages to extend his aesthetic vision to the minor details of the space : floor tiles are cut and mounted onto the store room door to create a sense of perspective and depth by suggesting a jetty that leads to a distant horizon, while even the skylight is like a creative calligraphic exercise.

Good range of paintings and sculptures by local artists. The owner was very helpful and offered some great insights into the background and uniqueness of some of the works.

If only I had the money there are some wonderful pieces here, could spend an hour just going from open to another.
