The Spianada is the largest square in Corfu, with big open spaces and is covered in trees. It also contains a cricket ground, a throwback to British rule, which is still used today. On the city side is the Liston, where locals and tourists alike sit in the fashionable cafes and watch the world go by.

No, you may never be a Corfu local, but you have the opportunity for a few minutes to be a part of the local scene. Splenada Square is where locals, visitors, merchants, soldiers, sailors and folk of all kinds gather for a cup of coffee and a quick gossip to find out what is going on in the neighborhood. You... A beautiful, central place, lots of restaurants in the area and it's very scenic and lively. Worth a visit. It's not easy to find a parking spot there at certain times (especially in the morning hours).

Probably the single most impressive building and in a lovely setting so certainly worth taking a look if you are at this end of town. Will only take a few minutes to see this part, but as part of the wider area, you can easily pass an hour or 2 relaxing.

You don't have to spend any money to enjoy this beautiful plaza with the iconic bandstand in the middle, but there are so many tavernas and coffee bars around that you're spoilt for choice for refreshments. There's even a McDonald's at one end if you so fancy. You have the old fortress to the east, as well as the art... More

The Esplanade or Spianada Square, bounded by the Liston on one side and the Old Fortress on the other with the Palace of St Michael and St George at one end. On one side closest to the fort is the Bosketo Garden, where there is a monument to Gerald and Lawrence Durrell; the zoologist and the author, who spent their... More

You can spend a quiet day, full of history, right in the heart of Corfu Town. All you have to take on you is a bottle of water and a cell phone camera to capture the wonders that will surround you.
