Even though I'm British born I was christened in an orthodox church as I nearly died as a baby whilst visiting Greece with whooping cough. I fing orthodox churches so peaceful and there's something quite enchanting about them. I always light a candle and pray. It's the one place I must visit ehe. I go to Greece. This is in the old town and it just appears suddenly. Go inside sit down and take stock! Trust me it's well worth a visit.

Nice church in the heart of the old town. Just impossible to be missed. Colorful outside, beautiful inside. No pictures can be taken inside!

We began at Agia Theodora Mitropolis, the Greek Orthodox cathedral, with a graceful rose-hued façade and its grand iconostasis, reflecting its other name, which translates as All Saints. Chandeliers of hammered silver-toned metal hung from chains. To the right of the altar was an elaborate silver sarcophagus. As my husband and I sat taking in the scene, several people filed up to the casket, which the priest opened, blessing them as they looked inside its red plush interior and prayed.

This quiet small church is located on the coast right in the heart of Corfu. Very small inside and only fits about 40 people but is ideal for a small wedding.

. Inside it is small but very ornate with beautiful paintings on the ceiling. A peace place away from the noise of the town

Just HAD to visit this place, SO peaceful and makes you feel you're closer to your God. It makes the hairs on your arms stand up and you leave feeling totally cleansed of all worries.

My Greek name is Dora from Theodora, that's why Agia Theodora is very special unto my heart. The holy temple of her in Kerkyra, also known as the Metropolis; is absolutely distinctive. There are amazing icons of her inside, in addition to a very particular interior. Another special thing is the façade; where there is a broken pediment, metopes and triglyphes adjusted to IONIC order and not Doric as it should be!! Sunday morning Masses are really inspiring inside the church and the huge marble staircase can be a lovely spot for a snack or icecream in the evening. Always start your volta and get out from the market place through Agia Theodora .. Let her long brown hair guides you.

This church was under construction, but offered a quiet respite compared to the Agious Spyridon. While it seems that most Orthodox churches are very dark, they provide the opportunity to feel the presence of God.

We came across this church by chance on our street walk of Corfu town. It was a lovely surprise. We had a quick look inside and it is really a beautiful place to visit. There are many icons as well as painted images inside. The church is in a busy area, a square, which is actually quite a small area. Worth a visit.
