This Church complex is set between the Old port and Little Venice when walking this way along the sea (you'll miss it if you take the shortcut through the winding alleys inland).
Paraportiani Church complex consists of 5 churches built one above other or next to another in a small area by the sea. It dates back to the 14th century and was consequently enlarged.
Throughout the complex are interesting plaques explaining the history and photos of 20 c Mykonos when it was a normal ordinary village, not a jet set place, which I found very interesting.

This is a beautiful little church right on the waterfront. It is nice to take a photo of and there is some signage but one cannot go inside. Its name literally means "Our Lady of the Side Gate" in Greek, as its entrance was found in the side gate of the entrance to the Kastro area. It is thought to have been built in the 16th or 17th century.

Small church with a peculiar architecture and a little strange. But beautiful. The location also helps with the sea behind. It is impressive for the strange beauty of the exterior. From the inside I can't speak because it was closed

Very beautiful but you need to go early in the morning when no one is there. Too busy in the day with everyone taking photographs for social media. Appreciate the beauty and peace in the morning. There is history behind it too! Not just a place for instagram photographs!

At the end of the waterside promenade, past Jackie-O, Paraportiani is a church by daytime. By night, its grounds and paths to the water are the cruising area of Mykonos. Go anytime after sunset

it is probably the best attraction of mykonos ... old, white, beautiful church with irregular construction... it seems to be the only real thing in such plastic place, which is mykonos...

this beautiful church is a must see when in Mykonos.
its unique structure make it one of the most photographed churches in Europe.
its located near the bay and the center of town and right near the windmills, so its very easy to find.

I'm not a good photographer, but my pictures of this unique church look professional, and yours will too. Take a picture of the church with the sea in the background, and you'll amaze your friends with your photographic skill.
To get there, start at the taxi stand in the old port. Walk along the sea, pass the blue church that you'll see in the port, and keep walking along the sea. When the road along the sea stops, you HAVE to go left, so go left on that last road. There it is---just out of sight from the road along the seafront. (Cars can't go there, walking only.)

I was wondering if you could help me .... is it possible to arrange a re new of wedding vows with a priest at the Panagia Portiani Church in Mykonos ? My brother in law and sister are going on a cruise for their 25th wedding anniversary and will be in Mykonos on 25/8/18 ... if so is there a direct contact number with the church so I can arrange something thank you .

I would suggest you have the travel agent contact the cruise line for assistance. I was told that church only opens its doors twice a year for two ceremonies. Perhaps they perform these ceremonies for a fee. If this couple is not of Greek heritage - not sure if they would do it. Greek Orthodox wedding ceremonies are very different from other religions.

After we get off the cruise ship, may we walk around to see the windmills, Little Venice, and Paraportiani Church ourselves? Do these sightseeing places in short walking distance from the pier area? Thanks.

The places you want to visit are at walking distance from the old port of Mykonos.
If your cruise ship is at a pier, then it means you are in the new port of Mykonos. It is not at walking distance from the places you want to visit. It is about 2.5 kilometers away. From there you can take the Seabus to get you to the Old Port. It costs 2 Euro per person and runs every 30 mins. Trip duration 8 minutes. Not sure it the service stops during the winter.
If your cruise ship is not at a pier, then you will board on small boats that will get you to the Old port.
do you have to pay for a tour or can u simply sight see by yourself?
