Gregory took us around the island of Tenerife for 3 days. He was always on time, very kind, respectful, down to earth and knowledgeable. He is very easy to talk to and we felt very safe with him. He knew a lot about the island and shared with us interesting stories which we really appreciated. He knew the best places to eat while we were exploring the island and always asked our group if we needed a snack or bathroom break. He introduced us to barraquitos- the traditional Canarian coffee drink, which was amazing. He also took us to a beautiful beachfront restaurant where we enjoyed fresh seafood and watched the local surfers catch some waves. On the last day, he took us to a volcanic vineyard on the way back from Mount Teide which offered one of the best wines we’ve ever had and the most delicious Canarian traditional meal. We felt very at home with Gregory and the people he’s introduced us to. He always made sure we were comfortable and provided us with bottles of water daily. He also suggested quick, yet breathtaking hikes throughout the trip and took incredible photos of our group. He always greeted us with a smile. We loved having him around and made our first time in Tenerife memorable. We would recommend him to anyone exploring the gorgeous island of Tenerife.

4 of us went booked a private tour with Greg. He couldn't have done more for us & although 2 of us had been several times before, showed us some incredible places that we didn't know existed. Originally from the Ukraine he probably knows more about Tenerife than the locals & answered all our questions with great knowledge & enthusiasm. He finally dropped us at the airport saying he wished he had time to show us more! If you want to really see the island, definitely book with him.

My husband and I have travelled extensively and prefer to book private tours with our own personal guide when we want to learn about the places we visit. We have just returned from a ‘Go West’ tour with Gregory and I have to say it was absolutely superb. Gregory is most charming and so professional.
We tried to book him when we came to Tenerife in October but he was fully booked so I knew we would be here in January (now) so I booked this tour then to ensure Gregory would be able to escort us personally.
He collected us from the El Mirador hotel at 11.30 in the morning and returned us back there in his clean and comfortable Mercedes at 6pm.
Throughout the tour he told us about the history, vegetation, climate and folk law of the island. He has a lovely sense of humour and clearly loves Tenerife and is so knowledgable.
We really liked that he took us off the beaten track to a lovely, very reasonably priced family owned restaurant for lunch that you would never find as a tourist.
I would highly recommend the Go West Tour with Gregory, you experience both climates of Tenerife and there is so much to see.
Having looked at his Tenerife Host website I see he does other tours and we are already planning another tour with him when we return to Tenerife.

Brilliant from start to finish. Excellent communication at point of booking and then an amazing tour from Gregory where we enjoyed rugged scenery, roadside barraquitos and stunning views. I felt a bit poorly on the winding roads and Gregory even took us to a pharmacy so I could get some pills and then changed our route accordingly. He was so easy to talk to, happy to take lots of photos of us and took us off the beaten track away from all the tourists. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My family and I took the private ‘Magic Circle’ tour with Gregory and had a truly unforgettable experience. Gregory was an extremely knowledgeable and personable guide and was able to show my family and I parts of Tenerife that we never would have seen otherwise. The vehicle was extremely comfortable and equipped with AC and had plenty of water bottles provided. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to truly see what Tenerife has to offer. We made a stop halfway through the day at a great restaurant where Gregory had arranged private seating for us and we experienced delicious local cuisine. We had an absolute blast, and will fondly remember our trip here as a result of this tour.

Cheers Gregory!

We booked a day out with Gregory - (TenerifeHost ) to do the Masca - Southwest -Teide tour. Sent him a message as per the clear website instructions and had a reply back within 5 minutes. Gregory called with all details of available options - bus tour vs private tour. He was polite, informative and very sure of the instructions he gave. No hesitation whatsoever. He sent me an email within a couple of minutes confirming the discussion on the phone regarding the options discussed and quote for cost of both trip options.
As soon as I emailed him my choice, I had confirmation about the vehicle and pickup times and payment details/ invoice. Payment was simple via a link ( Paypal/ card options). Confirmation of trip voucher followed within 5 minutes.
Gregory picked us up in a 9 seater minibus ( for 4 of us) so plenty of space for jackets etc making the trip very comfortable. He arrived prompt at 10.15 am and we warmed to his manner immediately. Always courteous, great sense of humor and nothing -is-ever-too-much attitude. Felt safe and in capable company at once.
Then began one of the most amazing days of our trip. We set off for Los Gigantes via los Christianos, las Americas, Costa Adeje with Gregory coming into his form. He spoke about all the history of the island, it’s people the change over the times, it’s economy, peoples, animals, plants, water supply, lifestyles, island weather all along the journey as we passed the relevant areas on the drive. Like an encyclopedia giving us information on everything we were seeing on the way and it’s relevance, without making it like a school lesson. My teenage kids, who normally are glued to their phones on most trips, did not actually use them once!!!! Speaks for itself.
We reached los Gigantes, and Gregory took us through the history/ geology behind these magnificent cliffs, and the the types of whales and dolphins in the waters below. He then helped us take some wicked photos, and we saw the photographer side to his personality. He had toured with a National Geographic photographer for 10 days on the island and picked up enough knowledge to help us take some stunning photos, usually volunteering to take the pics at all the scenic spots.
From there we went onto Santiago Del Teide stopping at several scenic spots on the way for some great pictures.
Then on to Masca...on a most scenic but dangerous mountainous route, which he navigated effortlessly and safely. He stopped at various spots on the way to show us views that would be impossible to get on a bus tour, displaying his depth of knowledge of the whole area. Interestingly, these were all different to the regular tourist photo spots. Masca was a short stop with the local history of the pirates and stories of the Guanches and their lives from several hundred years ago and how the survivors became farmers eventually.
Onwards through the Teno Park and over / around the Teno volcano, Macizo de Teno, Beuna Vista del Norte instructions he gave. No hesitation whatsoever. He sent me an email within a couple of minutes confirming the discussion on the phone regarding the options discussed and quote for cost of both trip options.

Onwards through the Teno Park and over / around the Teno volcano, Macizo de Teno, Beuna Vista del Norte until we came to a a restaurant called Brisas-de-Teno. What a hidden jewel...lunch cooked fresh - local delicacies- squid, prawn, fish, rabbit, Goat, potatoes, all cooked to perfection. Sangria to with it all😋😋😋. Topped by the coffee at the end ...Barraquito made of coffee/liqueur 43/ cream / and condensed milk!!
(Photos attached)
With stomachs full, we headed onto Garachico- nature’s jacuzzi!! Huge waves making the sea white as we watched in awe! Then through the town and it’s little streets where Gregory stopped and took us to a little store that still does hand rolled cigars only available here- and inexpensive!! Revelation that South America was introduced to cigars by migrants from The Canaries who introduced the plant from here to South America.
Moved on to see the Dragon Tree 🌳 next which is a well know tourist attraction locally.
From there for the surprise of a complementary wine tasting session that Gregory had arranged for us at the - Musco de Malvasia- in Icod de Los Vinos. We bought some really nice local wine here
we then headed for the crowning glory of the day - Teide by Twilight. There is no other time to see the Teide volcano 🌋 and Park. The golden setting sun and its colors are burnt into our memories like no other. It felt like we were on a different planet. We were keen to see Teide at the beginning of the tour but so glad we took Gregory’s advice and left it to the end!! And then there was sunset at Teide!!
Then back home to San Blas. It was an unforgettable day.
We would all like to thank Gregory for making this so special for us. And for being our ‘photographer ‘. He went out of the way to ensure our comfort and safety. Graciously catered to our every whim...we had to reach Teide by 8.22 pm to see the sunset there!!! And he made it all possible with a smile. Never rushed and yet making sure we made it on time. Dropped us back to the hotel just before 10 pm. Was along but Simply fab day out. One of the best private tours we have ever done. Would recommend highly without hesitation.
Absolutely no downside or negatives!!! (Which is unusual for me in a review)
Good luck with your future ventures Greg. And thank you again.

We were in Tenerife in the week before Christmas and had booked two tours with Tenerife Host. Gregory was our tour guide and he is a very friendly and personable individual. He was responsive and helpful even before we landed in Tenerife and was very quick to respond to any queries however big or small they were. This helped us immensely in planning the trip. Both the tours were very well planned and equally well executed. The car was very clean and he clearly knows his way around and hence even improvised the route for the second tour in order to meet our likes as he gathered based on first tour and it made such a difference. In fact that pretty much underlines the "private" tour for it feels nearly customized to your tastes.

It is small things that make the tour enjoyable such as a pleasant companion and considerate for all in the tour not just the grown ups and we were just overwhelmed to see Gregory taking extra effort to even have conversation with our 11 year old daughter and engaging her. Him taking us to a great Indian Restaurant for dinner before dropping us back to our place of stay was the cherry on top of an already very sweet and lovely cake. The experience we had on these tours will stay with us forever and as it was shaped by Gregory he is etched in our memories too.

I highly recommend tours offered by Tenerife Host.

HOME RUN TOUR. Gregory is a 1 man operation that charges a little more than some for a private tour, but his private tour is worth every penny. You get what you pay for. Most tour buses- especially ship tours- make 2 stops on a tour-Mount Teide and Gofo Rocks. To be honest, these 2 attractions are both excellent and they will give the tourist and excellent memory. Our Tennerife tour included 4 Mt Teide related stops, the Gofo Rocks and 1 additional plate tectonic related stop (more later) AND 4 villages PLUS a lunch break with Canarian local food.
MT TEIDE: This is the 3rd largest volcano in the world. The volcano is so tall and the air is so pure that there are world class planetarium observatories located on the summit. The area is certified as an International Dark Skt Reserve by the Internationl Dark-Sky Association (IDA). Awesome photo ops were given. When you only have 6 pax in a tour, stopping for pictures is a snap (pun intended). The crater rim of this huge volcano is amazing- it is 11 miles across. It just goes on and on. ADDED BONUS: 3 extra stops for great photo ops of the volcanic region.
GOFO ROCKS: A very interesting natural rock formation is located within the crater of this huge volcano. This formation is Gofo Rocks. The rock outcrop formation is TECTONIC and NOT VOLCANIC. 2 tectonic plates collide inside the crater, and the result is the Gofo Rocks. ADDED BONUS: There is another area at high elevation near the summit of a crater rim mountain peak where the tectonic plates also meet. This stop was amazing because the air temperatures for the wind rising up the opposing slopes of the peak are different, and clouds are created when the air flows meet (like cloud forests in Costa Rica). On one side of the peak it is perpetually moist and ferns grow on the steep walls of the arête; the other side has dry air, so it is desert like, with a lot of cactus.
CANDELARIA VILLAGE with 10 KINGS STATUES and CHURCH: This was an added bonus stop on the tour. The original aboriginal inhabitants of the island were called Guanches. They were literally stone age tribes. There were a total of 9 tribes-each with a king- together with an overall ruling king. The Spanish arrived and for reasons unknown rounded up all of the tribes and killed them all, so there are no surviving blood lines from the original settlers. Candelaria has statues commemorating each of 10 kings that line the perimeter of a plaza that also has a nice photo op of a church.
3 ADDITIONAL VILLAGES: We drove through 3 additional villages that had quaint or historical significance. It was pleasant to see locals in their natural environment.

After docking in Santa Cruz, we were picked up near the dock by Gregory. There were 6 of us in a 9 seater mini-bus. Gregory showed us all around the island and was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to see most of the highlights of the island with a great guide.

This was a very special treat for my mum’s birthday and we went on the Magic Circle tour. There were only three of us so we went in the Mercedes limo. It was nice and comfortable and Gregory picked us up from our hotel - no issues.
This trip was a great way of seeing lots of different places most of which you’d struggle to see via a coach tour or local buses. I went to Teide 10 years ago via a coach and seeing Teide was like seeing it again for the first time.
We saw so much; too many to mention but the Teno Lighthouse, Masca valley, as well of course Teide were highlights. For lunch we had a lovely meal at a traditional restaurant where the staff Andy d owner obviously loved him. They waved us off as we left. The restaurant had the beautiful garden which we had to ourselves and ate goat, rabbit, salted cod, Canadian potatoes as well as local wine. One of the best meals of the holiday. There was a terrapin in the garden of the restaurant as well as ducks, chickens, friendly old dog from next door’s banana plantation. Plus lizards of all sizes running in and out of the rocks.
Gregory was so knowledgable about everything. He was tour guide, chauffeur, photographer, historian, friend and on and on - all rolled into one. We spend most of of rest of our holiday reminding each other of the facts that Gregory told us!
It was planned to be an 8 hour tour but it ended up lasting up being almost 12 because Gregory was happy to stop regularly and seemed to love showing us everything even though he must have done this tour lots of times. My mum needed frequent loo breaks - no problem Gregory sorted. Partner mentioned he was interesting in cigars - no problem he took us to see them being rolled, ‘it was on the way’. I wanted to do some wine tasting - so we did that too.
Final bits of advice- google ‘Tenerife Host’ and book direct. He worked so hard for our money without it ever seeming like it was a chore. Book it, he is worth it.
