Private Walking Tour of the City of Ulan-Ude

We offer you a city walking tour around the historical center of Ulan-Ude.<br>Ulan-Ude (earlier Verhneudinsk) is the capital city of republic Buryatia in Russian Federation. It is situated on the banks of the Uda river in the east of Siberia. The current name was given to the city in 1934 and means "red Uda" or "red gate" in Buryat reflecting the communist ideology of the Soviet Union to which it belonged. After a large fire in 1878, the city was almost completely rebuilt. The Trans-Siberian Railway reached the city in 1900 causing an explosion in growth. Until 1991 the city was closed to foreigners. Now Ulan-Ude is an old historic and cultural center in Siberia.

An amazing visit! The lady at the counter gave my Dad and I free tickets to enter the museum and was really friendly, and the staff were also really friendly inside and showed us several exhibits. The information on Lake Baikal and the wildlife was really informative and interesting; prepared us well for going to Baikal the next day via Irkutsk.

This place was incredibly interesting and for anyone heading toward the Baikel Lake District we would highly recommend a visit here as it gives extensive information on the wildlife and natural organisms around! There is limited English signs but there are pamphlets which give excellent info! The lady who helped us was also very friendly. Very reasonably priced as well!! :-)
