First of all the whole park is an awesome idea how to get kids in the mountains. We had a 2,5 year old girl with us and eventhough most of the attractions are for bigger kids, she loved the dinosaur statues, climbed on top of the mountain and we had a great day. On a hot day you can find many ponds to "get wet" (suggestion: bring spare shoes and clothes), the restaurant offers great variety of food and we also experienced a live music, which was quite intense and loud, but nice and fits the place. What was the biggest con was the amount of people, but its unerstandable. Morning around 11 was the worst, later on it was getting better, around 3 it was almost empty. Also as you can see on the map, all facilities are situated at the bergstation, if you go further up, bring your own refreshments and use WC before. I really recommend for people who want to start going to the mountains with kids.

My five year old daughter loved seeing the dinosaurs and playing in the play areas. You can also walk to the top of the mountain.

Visited here with my family and two young nephews (2 & 6). Highly recommend for those ages, a lot of outdoor activities for them to get involved in. Older ages may not enjoy as much, but the facilities are great and it is well maintained. Very clean & Tidy and everything looks safe so long as the children are supervised.

Been there with my eight year old on a hot summer day and while I enjoy the view, that's nothing that matters much to to an eight-year old. I caught that some years ago when I showed my daughter "This is the highest mountain of all of Austria". her reaction was "okay". So, if I take her up a mountain, it should be something more than "a great panoramic view", which Steinplatte undoubtely has. So, on to the attractions created. the visitor center is nice, even though they try to sell you the sort of overpriced rubbish you get in all places that attract tourists. The short explanation film was superb. Onwards to the playground - sure nice and further on to "dig out fossils yourself". I appreciate you can't cater for anyone, but apart from the big skeleton, it's hard to find the "promised" fossils. The Dinosaur figures are not very crafty and don't give great resamblance of what we know about dinosaurs today. I am of the opinion that if i create something like this, I want to do it properly. Same with the name giving of the dinosaurs. This park should have an age limit recommendation of max 8 years. Older children - or those with a proper interest in Dinosaurs - will consider it laughable and your time can be spent better. the price for taking the cab up the mountain ist 17.5€ for grown ups and 9.5 for kids, which won't put anyone off. I suggest hiking up from age 7 onwards. All in all, it's not too bad. the place just lacks proper execution of the Dinosaurs. Oh yeah, my last word: Bring plenty of Food and drink yourself. By no means do i want to put the restaurant on top out of business, but the area is quite spaceous and you want to be able to nurse your kids back to form without having to run down the trail again.

Hello Ray... Thank you for your honest reply, yes you are right we are currently working on all of our explaining stations (not only the dinosaurs) in order to be able to present more information and to make it more interesting for older kids! Yes the ammonites, or the place in the TriassicPark were worldwide the most ammonites can be found will get an extra new station in order to find it easily, Fischers Coral Garden. And walking with older kids is a good idea aswell as bringing lunch, altough we want to offer somerhing for everyones needs. So we hope to see you again, not only for the great view.
