We took one day trip to enjoy the snow. Great resort, convenient cable train to the top, lots of parking. At the top there is very nice restaurant that offers hot food and drinks. So good for a break. The resort was not very croudy and it seems like agood choice for ski lovers. Enjoy!

We took a day trip on the free skibus to the resort of Steinplatte. We took the Line D bus from the bus stop at Skistar Harschbichel lift station to Waidring Steinplatte. The journey took 30 minutes.
Because we had bought the Lander skilift passes, we were covered to ski here as well as in St Johann. There was a nice mix of blue and red slopes and one black. It has several nice restaurants (Moseralm was very nice and had self service which speeded everything up).

Enjoy the breathtaking view from the platform.
The dinopark and the playgrounds amoused the kids for hours.
Absolutly worthy a tour.

Good and long ski slopes, but it can be very busy up the Steinplatte. The slopes are graded from light blue to black, so everybody can have their own challenge. Very good ski experience.

So much for children and adults to do. Interactive displays of dinosaurs and booklet for children to fill in. Playground areas with rafts and pools or the children. Glass platform for great views. Hiking and mounting biking. Great restaurant with large choice of food. In the winter great for family skiing. A favourite area for the whole family.

Part of the Schneewinkle skiing area, Steinplatte is one great big bowl shaped playground.
With lots of long sweeping blue runs this is the place for beginners to get there ski legs and build their technique. There are red runs on the higher steeper areas and a single black run for those who dare.
On a clear day the views across the area are amazing, on poorer weather days the visibility can drop rapidly and can make things a little difficult, especially for beginners.
A unique feature is the ability to ski across the border into Germany, then get the chair lift back into Austria. Don't expect a big sign welcoming you to Germany though, which is a little disappointing but does mean the slopes are not crowded by groups having pictures taken by a sign.
All the restaurants are pretty good but beware as some, such as the Bareck is self service and can get very busy at lunchtimes.
The ski bus from St Johann only runs twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon for return. The return buses can get very busy so be at the bus stop in plenty of time.
The only access to Steinplatte is via cable car which takes about 12 minutes, so queues to get the cable car back down the mountain to the bus stop can often be found. Especially for the last bus of the day, currently 16:20. So make sure you take this into account when planning your day.
That said, don't miss the opportunity to give Steinplatte a try.

Decent resort we spent 3 days skiing here even though we were staying in st johann I preferred Steinplatte to be honest with some good wide runs but it’s a family resort so there are more kids than I’ve ever come across on the slopes, so out of school term may be better time to go although it was mainly local when we where there, it’s about30mins on bus from st johann.

Had a great few days skiing my favourite runs in this small but well planned out ski resort . All runs are accessible by chair lift . Snow was amazing and even on a bad snow day visibility was ok . Always nice to go right to the top for the amazing views . Some great places to eat as well .

I learned to ski here 30 years ago so when we were looking to do a short break I thought it would be fun to go back for a couple of days. What a great choice that turned out to be. The lift system has improved no end and the new(to me) Gondola up from the village was brilliant The Blue and Red runs are all great for cruising around - you can even wander over the border to Germany by going down to Winkelmoosalm. Admittedly we were really lucky with the weather but this was a really pleasurable way to spend a couple of days just pottering around - especially when we finished off each day with a very large Gluhwein (a real bargain compared to French Vin Chauds) whilst admiring the view from the Kammerkor outside bar!

We went to Steinplatte for a 4 day skiing trip with the familiy. The ski resort is fantastic and slopes are perfect for a short ski. The resort had however to sort out the Wifi / 4G access as we had no access whatsoever in the mountain or restorants

Hello Slam_10, thank you for your review! The wifi problem is because we are on the boarder of germany and austria and so the connection is always a bit complicated. We are sorry for this circumstances. Yours Steinplatten Team
