You can get into here for 3 euro or 6 euro gets you in here, the castle and the archaelogical museum, I would say that is good value.

If you like amphiteatres you will like this, I do and so I liked this, even more I was the only person there apart from an old man picking some sort of plants around the perimeter.

They have an info centre, a toilet and a couple of walks you can go round the amphitheater. It is not massive so will probably take you an hour at most. They don't take cash so bring your credit card.

Another hidden gem in the town of Lucera. It's so well hidden and off the beaten track that you end up having the whole place to yourself and you can explore at leisure. This whole town radiates ancient history through multiple historical periods. I strongly recommend it!

We drove to Lucera on our tour of southern Italy. We love history and were looking forward to visiting this site. Unfortunately it was locked up; luckily we were also visiting the castle which was quite impressive, just for its size.

We walked down to this site only to find the area fenced off. There were many locals just hanging about watching us and we felt unsafe and uncomfortable. We about turned and walked quickly back to the main road.

It’s always good to get to grips with the history of a place and, while the remains of this Roman amphitheatre aren’t on a par with the obviously more well-known sites in Italy, it is worth walking to. It’s not an authentic reconstruction, but has been restored so that the site can be used as a venue - much better than leaving it a a pile of stones. It would have benefitted from a little more interpretation - perhaps in the form of a diagrammatic representation of what it would have looked like. The ticket office building was sympathetic and the trees I felt added to the atmosphere of this place.

Very well preserved Roman Anfiteatro. Huge in size. Unbelievable that such a structure would be built, indicates the importance of town in older times.

We came to Lucera for the castle, this was a nice surprise. Pretty large amphitheatre, fairly well preserved. You're not in the Colosseum but it's worth the visit if you're in town.
