Pisek is medieval town with pleasant people everywhere. On the square you can find several very nice coffee places. I spent here one night on the way to Pilsen. The bridge is really unique but surrounding is not like in Passau which I recommend very much.

Not so crowded like Charles Bridge. Maybe because it was a nice Sunday Morning. A few Kilometres from prague. It's worth visiting. In summer you can seat at a restaurant outside.

Pisek is a small city with an atmosphere. This is a place you cannot miss (and will not - believe me). One of the oldest bridges in Europe (older that Charles bridge in Prague), also known as Deer bridge. Statues on the bridge are nice, however are copies (originals are in Pisek museum, where they were put after last major flood in 2002. Still well worth visiting, taking few photos, feeding swans and ducks and having a coffee in one of few cafeterias with the view to the bridge. Please note that every mid of June they erect temporary sand statues at the food of the bridge (mostly they last few weeks, easily until September) that are giving this place that extra glitch.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the catastrophic floods of 2002 that caused unbelievable destruction in more than a third of the Czech republic. The flood has destroyed the bridge’s railing as well as a statue of an angel, but the main structure itself has withstood the unbelievable force of the rushing waters and today the historic bridge stands, beautifully repaired, in its full glory.

Pisek is a mid size city in the Czech Republic and is about an hour or more from Prague. It has a nice square with outdoor table service at several places. They have sand sculptures on display on the river. I would recommend the sweet shop in the new remodeled library on the square. Great place for non smoking and healthy sweets and drinks.

After you admire Charles Bridge in Prague, you will be intrigued to visit Pisek's stone bridge which is even older.

Recommended for a quick stopover in Pisek to walk the bridge and have a bite or a drink nearby,

Not really interesting in my opinion. I have seen much more impressive old bridges.
There are nice views of the bridge from the west side of the river.

When in Pisek you must walk over their historic bridge which dates back as one of the oldest still intact in all of Europe. However, don't expect to be wowed by its flamboyance, especially since being heavily damaged by a flood in about 2002. You need to image back to ancient times to really appreciate its significance.

This is located a short walk from our hotel, Hotel Biograf. Despite major floods this bridge is still wonderful to look at and a great place to take photos.

The statues on the stone bridge are nice, and its worth walking over it to the "less central' part and walking a little around the streets there, and along the river. There is a nice cafe on the other side looking on to the bridge and waters. There were lovely big sand statues along the shore of the river when I was there.
enjoy Pisek!
