Also known as Stari Zamak, this ancient castle is situated on the banks of the Neman River, and faces the New Castle. The only original remains are the sections of wall to the left as you enter. The complex is a historical monument of the...More

The castle really isn't much to look at (Try Mir or Nesvich for a more impressive looking castle). The museum was quite enjoyable though. It begins with exhibits from ancient times and progresses through WWII. Then there is a section with 5 or 6 rooms...More

Good overview of the past and city. The church inside is worth a visit especially in combination with the Kalozha Church Boris-Gleb Church

The architecture of the Castle is not very impressive. But the view from the hill - yes. Museum is worth to visit if one is interested in history of Grodno and Grand Duchy of Lithuania part of which was our days Belorussia.

It is worth taking a stroll around the castle. Neman panorame is stretching downhill, and a view to the left bank of the river is imposing.

Museum inside is interesting until soviet times part. One of the best viewpoints on high bank of Grodno and interesting to see how small was place of first inhabitants.

We started off with a private tour of the old castle. It was really interesting. There is so much history that I highly recommending getting a tour guide instead of walking around yourself.
