Well worth seeing the martial arts show here!
Oct 2019
This was an added attraction at the end of our visit to the Shaolin Temple and Pagoda Forest grounds. It was a short martial art show put on by some of the Kung Fu students of all ages. It was so worth seeing. They performed some amazing and very impressive feats. Plus part of the show engaged with the audience calling tourists to join in the show and try to mimic some of the Kung Fu dance moves performed. Very funny and entertaining.

Good show. Nothing amazing but good show
Sep 2019
We attended the show in the hall. It was interesting but not top class. It is all in Chinese so we have no idea what the announcer was saying but the action on stage was nice. Lots of participants. it was about a 45 minute show

Amazing talent
May 2019 • Couples
Saw this show during our visit to the Shaolin Kung Fu temple complex. These students are so talented. The commentary was all in Chinese but it didn’t matter because the talent needed no explanation. Amazing. Kids & adults will love this. Brings action movies to life!!!!

Short Kung Fu performance
Apr 2019 • Friends
To get a good seat, you need to queue at least 15mins before the performance start. The performance is ok but not particularly impressive. They will ask for 3 volunteers to learn kung fu. Important that some people volunteer as this is the funniest part.

Impressive

For me, this show is the most impressive and most interesting in Shaolin temple. I really have a good time watching the show. However, you should come 20 minutes before the show begin and don't take a seat near aisle because after the show began a lot of people who didn't get a seat will stand crowded there and block your view.

A bit disappointing, more like acrobatics

If you decide to watch the performance try to get a seat on the ground floor. I went immediately to the second floor thinking the viewing would be better but I think it was a lot worse due to the low hanging ceiling.

The performance was okay with some interesting demonstrations. I think they change it up frequently so hopefully you will have better luck. There were no demonstrations of strength like smashing bricks or trees which I found disappointing. At one point they invite people up on stage to try and mimic the monks. It’s a bit gimmicky.

Fun for all
Mar 2018 • Couples
We have visited China previously so this was not our first taste of Kung Fu, but it was great the Monks included people of the group to "try"Kung Fu under their guidance....It was a fun time for everyone in our group - 3 Australians trying to do Kung Fu was memorable.

Time your visit to watch the performance
Mar 2018 • Solo
It is best to time your visit to watch the show. I was there at 0845hr, but the first show starts at 0930hr. Hence I proceeded to visit the Shaolin Temple first. After that I needed to walk back to watch the 1030hr show.

To have a good seat in the middle, I recommend to queue up at least 15mins before show time. It was crowded with local tour groups. Though the hall can seat approximately 150 person, the middle section is filled up very quickly.

The martial arts show was entertaining and impressive. The performers must have spent many hours daily practising kung fu for many months in order to do the stunts. The show lasted 30mins, which is sufficient to appreciate Shaolin kung fu. Fyi, the show times are 0930hr, 1030hr, 1130hr, 1400hr, 1500hr and 1600hr, with additional 1700hr slot during summer.

The great entrance to a historical and amazing art
Jul 2017 • Family
1st contact with the Shaolin philosophy... an impressive gate to the training park then the Martial Arts hall. The show is nice and young shaolin monk or trainee are impressive but not as much as the Adult Shaolin monks. Anyway it worth it even if you have to play rugby to catch a seat ... too crowded. The best is to arrive at the end of a show (30min) then wait Chinese tourists leaving in mass then take a seat and wait for next session ... may be you have travelled thd world to come here so waiting 30min to enjoy it in good condition is not too much ;)
