Restored - interesting but not much english signage

The Lixue Pavilion was originally named the First Patriarch Hall or Bodhidharma Pavilion. It is 11 metres wide and 7 metres deep, with a total height of over 8 metres, and is the only architecture with a main ridge and four diagonal ridges for hip roofs at the temple. Southeast the pavilion is an iron bell cast in the 17th year of Wanli of the Ming Dynasty (1589). The pavilion was renovated in 1983. It is worth looking at because of the history

Important part of complete history of Shaolin

For the historians in the group this will be a mandatory part of the temple visit. For the Buddhists it will re-emphasize the need for diligence and non attachment that are on the path to liberation.
