Really worthwhile overview of (mainly European) art with a marvellous temporary expedition bout Charles le Brun.

Today we drove over to Lens to see the Charles Le Bron exhibition at the museum. This is a wonderfully modern building and it is extremely user-friendly. There are several hundred paintings in this exhibition. The painter was the main court artist of Louis XIV. We decided to take a guided tour. There were only 19 visitors in the group... More

Louvre Lens is an interesting piece of architecture in itself, built on top of an old quarry and contrasting with the woodlands surrounding it, most probably putting many people off. We liked it, though, and our only reservations concerned the landscaping around the building itself. It probably looks good from above and on a drawing, but in real life, it's... More

We decided to visit Louvre Lens as we stayed in Lille over the weekend which is not far from Lens, We took train and once we arrived in Lens there is either free shuttle every 30 mins or so to the museum or nice leisurely 15 minutes walk. Buses are located immediately to the left from the exit to the... More

It was our first visit to Louvre Lens. An amazing place - so much wonderful artifacts from a spans of more than 4000 years! Placed in a beautiful, new park. All built on a former, large coal works. Now on Unesco's world heritage list. Lens itself is not very interesting, but this place is amazing.

Quite a different museum to the Louvre in Paris. There was really only one hall of exhibits which were arranged in strict chronological order and were very well labelled in English French and Dutch. There was a small gallery dedicated to the local Lens football team and a special exhibition (to be paid for) dedicated to Charles Le Brun, master... More

Excellent displays both permanent and temporary, well explained and thoughtfully displayed, you would expect no less from one of the world's premier at museums.

I had a very pleasant, sunny walk from Lens railway station to the Louvre-Lens and was pleased to discover when I arrived that it was free of charge in the most part. A very modern building but not too imposing on the landscape. There are plenty of antiquities on display, which have been placed in chronological order in a huge... More

Visited there on the occasion of Euro 2016. No regrets. The time hall, meaning the main gallery, is astonishing. Gems from the Louvre in Paris taking another dimension and life in this huge, long, and airy modern gallery that gives each piece additional value. A pleasure for the eye. Oh, and it is free until September! The Lens Football clum... More

Really interesting museum in enormous modern building. Only downside was long walk to get there. Signs said 5 mins - more like 20. Free to get in. Well worth a visit.
