It’s located in the middle of Badacsonytomaj, so easy to find it. It’s made of black basalt stones, so it’s an unusual and impressive building. As I know there are only two basalt churches in Europe, one is in France and the other is here. It was built in 1930-32. The Roman Catholic church is 37 meters long and 19 m wide. It has two towers, they are 33m high. It’s worth to stop for some minutes and visit it.

It's a bold looking 'black' church with twin spires as seen from the street in front. St Imre's is a fine looking church and even if it's closed you can look in through its porch windows. It's worth a stop and a look f you are driving round Lake Balaton.

Churches made of basalt stone are not that common, but here in Balatontomaj you can find one. The dark stone is very impressive - in the entrance area of the church you can also find information in various languages about the history of the church, which is dedicated to St. Imre (Emmerich), the son of King István (Stephan). The church is beautifully bright inside and looks very well maintained. It has some beautiful architectural ideas.
