Ignore previous reviews - process to get in casino is not as bad as others have said

Read the reviews before I visited so didn’t actually expect to be able to go to casino as I wasn’t going to wait hours to get a card - BUT that turned out to not be the case at all, maybe the process has changed since the reviews but here’s what I had to do:

Go to a machine (no queue), use passport and put in personal details etc, let machine take a photo of me, then machine gives me a card.

Then went into casino, didn’t play any table games. Played Roulette Machine by putting card in, then cash. Winnings went onto card (had a good couple of hours and left with 10 times the cash I started with ;) ) Took the card to a cash out machine in the casino and withdrew the cash I won.

It’s a fairly big casino, nothing too special about it. Just thought I’d review so others could see the process to get in. You can’t take big bags in, but there are lockers available. I took a small bag in no problem. Also I saw something about a TEMPORARY card for visitors when I was leaving, so possibly this would be an even easier process.

LET ME SEE YOUR ID! WHAT'S IN THE BAG?! LET ME SEE WHAT'S INSIDE! Still got denied entering the Casino. Well sorry bro I didn't want to go in that badly anyways, I'm personally is against gambling.

A dying casino giant

While the world has advanced into a digital era, the flashy and glamorous Genting is still left behind with membership program that FULLY relies on physical card.

It’s hilarious when you are a member with their app, yet they still denied your access if you didn’t bring physical card.

Moreover, you CANNOT collect Genting Points with app. I mean, why waste money develop an app if it doesn’t digitize anything??

Also compulsory physical card for casino entry is just plain stupid.

How I miss when the father Lim Goh Tong management time.
Sadly the incompetent son cannot carry the legacy well with policies that don’t make sense.

Their business is shrinking as we speak, evidently from the failure of the newly launched theme park ( don’t waste money , it’s practically empty) , and bankruptcy of their cruises.

In addition to their family quarrel for inheritance, looks like this giant is crumbling down. If they continue like this

No access without membership card. Takes hours to get an appointment. I wasted my trip to genting on this ridiculous pace. They could’ve allowed foreigners a quick passage like Singapore does but not these guys

was told you need to wait in queue to renew the Genting rewards card . and the queue is amazingly long and slow.

meaning you need to wait at least 2 hours to get a physical card.

Backwards management and logistics for a flashy looking casino - long queues, don’t waste your time.

Everyone needs a Genting Rewards card to play to cash in / out credits from the machines.
That means you will need to be stuck in queue lasting hours because their staff are so slow, they process 1 person at a time and it takes 3-5 min per person to create a card / take pic etc.

The casino is completely revamped with bright lights, no free drinks, no smoking inside.

Mostly automated with lesser staff.

Waste of time just to play and queue for the card.

Queues for days

If you like queues, you'll love the casino. We had read the rules for the casino online beforehand and at the door before entering. Went in and found a machine, only after inserting money did one staff member tell us we will need a physical card to actually get any winnings out. Luckily we were two so we could leave one to watch the machine while one goes to register for the card.

The card registration desk is luckily not hard to find, however out of 10 desks only 2 were in use and the queue has by now, at the time of writing, taken a bit over 2 hours and the queue is not moving. If you wish to go to casino it will take less time to take bus from KL to Singapore and play there.

Also while waiting at the machine, a staff member came and simply ran two games on our money before leaving. Simply saying 'sorry sorry' while walking away.

Not sure the reason why GH subjected patron to the casino to apply a membership card physically or one will be denied entry. A very silly idea whoever came out with this. Maybe that's one way of controlling the crowd inside...🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

An extreme headache

I had to wait in line for 2 hours, to register for entry to the club. They require a physical copy of your passport but you only find that out when you get to the desk after the queue. Also you will be stopped and asked for your passport if you are non local looking for your passport.
