About
On the eastern side of the Etna volcano, in the woods of the National Park and facing the sea of Taormina, the Gambino vineyards are a pleasure for your senses and for your heart. A Pleasure for your sight, because they represent one of the best models of Etna vineyards of high altitude: in an exclusive natural environment, at 800 meters above sea level, the vineyards lay on sunny and airy terracing that have a breathtaking panorama. A pleasure for your sense of smell, for the unmistakable perfumes of the volcano vegetation. A pleasure for your heart, because the vineyards and wine are great passion that, for over twenty years, involves and guides the Raciti Gambino family.

- Kristina B7 contributionsNice destination with wine and good food!We were here on a day with slightly worse weather. The view was still great and the wine tasting was really entertaining; there was a lot of information about Sicily's wine tradition and the different wines. The antipasti served with it was really good!Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 13, 2024
- gimi100532 contributionsThe best winery on EtnaI thought of an unusual gift for my husband, namely a tour with tasting at the emerging Gambino winery at the foot of Etna. The choice was guided by the numerous enthusiastic reviews. Among the various options, I chose the "Full Vintage Selection" experience, the most complete. The site is excellently indicated and signposted, therefore easily accessible. We were welcomed by the friendly and competent Roberta with a welcome glass, an excellent 100% cricket. I'd say an excellent start. At this point she invited us to follow her to a splendid terrace overlooking the vineyards, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view, all the way to the sea. Roberta told us the recent but already solid history of the Gambino winery, the result of a family that achieved a surprising feat with passion and courage. The tasting was accompanied by an appetizer consisting of excellent cheeses, excellent cured meats, olives, aubergines and dried tomatoes. Followed by a delicious timbale of pasta alla norma and, finally, grilled sausage with a side of vegetables and cannoli for dessert. In all we tasted four glasses, two white and two red, all of exquisite workmanship and well paired with the meals following the suggestion of the impeccable Roberta, All the staff are excellent and attentive to every need of the individual guest, ready to smile and always available. Unlike other experiences, the food is not just an accompaniment to the extraordinary wines (as happens with the usual breadstick and the ritual piece of cheese), but an added value with a special mention for the really good Chef Nunzia. In conclusion, heartfelt congratulations to this emerging reality which is on the right track to establishing itself as absolute excellence in the sector. An experience definitely worth repeating and recommending.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 24, 2024

It offers quite generous servings of both, not just a morsel. It is located amongst the vineyards with spectacular views down to the coast. - Josh L1 contributionGreat wine, Great food, Great peopleWife and I went here for one of our honeymoon excursions. First off Laurie our server/wine guide was amazing! She knew so much about the wines, pairings, and the region. She really made the experience special. Now the food/wine… The winery gave us 4 glasses 2 red 2 white, one of each was from Etna and the other from central Sicily. They were paired with local cheese and meats which tasted amazing. 100% recommend and request Laurie if you can!Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 16, 2024

To make our day even better we met the beautiful founders Maria and Vittorio. - MauricioBabiloniaDenver, Colorado1,630 contributionsThis is a must!We had a wonderful afternoon visiting this winery after driving to Rifugio Sapienza to see Mount Etna. We had planned the light lunch with wine tasting for 3:00pm and arrived around 2:40pm. We enjoyed walking outside for a few minutes and taking photos of the beautiful place. Everyone was friendly and you can do the tasting in English or Italian (Stefano did the introduction and Roberto took care of our table, both very friendly). The light lunch includes cheese, olives, salami, eggplant, couscous and sausage. Everything was delicious and plentiful, so much so that we did not eat dinner that night.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024

Staff were warm, pleasant, and attentive. A relaxing afternoon enjoying good wine and local foods. - Johny-SCChapeco, SC69 contributionsAMAZING experienceThis winery is amazing. Even if we hadnt book in advance, we were able to send a whatsapp and they accepted us (3 people), even if the place was full. At first we had a welcome glass of wine. Then we had an explanation about the winery and grapes and a wine tasting and lunch pairing. The sommelier Ninni was AMAZING. Very friendly and high energy, we had a great explanation about the wines and diches. He was extremely friendly. I do recommend a reservation (even if we didn’t)Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 8, 2024
- Alex L1 contributionA must do experience in Sicily! We visited Gambino vini whilst we were in Taormina, and honestly, it has been the highlight of our trip to sicily!! We tasted 7 different wines and it was paired perfectly with the food. But the best part of our experience was Salvo our waiter, host and wine expert. He told us all about the different wines and where they came from and which grapes were used. He told us lots of facts about wine and vineyards that we didn't know. And to top our experience off, he gave us a lift back to Taormina with an other amazing collegue after our taxi cancelled on us!! He is a legend!!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 24, 2024

What a wonderful experience, we visited as a large family group, the experience was incredible from Nino’s warm welcome with a chilled white. A fascinating and funny chat in the beautiful gardens about the vineyard was followed by an insight into the production process and rounded off with a truly delicious selection of Sicilian produce and some more fabulous wines. Nino was the consummate host from beginning to end and the two young children were catered for so wonderfully.
My parents chose several wines to buy on the day and we ordered to be delivered to the UK easily.
This experience is excellent value and will absolutely not disappoint.

We booked a wine tasting lunch where wine was paired with suggested food that highlighted the flavour and properties of Sicilian wine. The Gambino made Etna wines did not disappoint. Our sommelier Alessandro did a stellar job guiding us through the flavours , the contrasting properties of the reds and whites and describing the history of the winery. He is knowledgeable and interesting; his passion for wines clearly evident in his enthusiastic manner. We highly recommend this relaxing and informative experience. Salut! & Well done Alessandro.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful wine tasting lunch experience! It sounds like you had a fantastic time exploring the flavor and properties of Sicilian wine paired with delicious food at Gambino Winery.
Alessandro, your sommelier, deserves high praise for his stellar guidance through the flavors and the nuances of both reds and whites, as well as for sharing the winery's history. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and evident passion for wines must have made the experience truly special.
Your high recommendation is appreciated, thanks a lot again! Cheers!

Antonio - what a marvel of knowledge, passion, story-telling and energy. We are Australian tourists who love a winery and so are familiar with some of the stories of how wine is produced etc, but, Antonio added his own flare and flavour which made it so much more memorable. The wine was divine, the bread with oil and oregano infused salt was spectacular and the overall service was unbeatable.
For a day that was soaked in rain and covered by cloud, so we could not see Mt Etna, the team at Gambino Vini absolutely made up for it.
Loved it

Being a sommelier in London, I like to visit wineries...
We were driving around the Etna after a short visit at Barone Villagrande and noticed the sign...we were quite high on altitude and I was too curious to pass. The trail to get there is steep. Arrived to the top the vue was breathtaking. There is a large tasting room and food/wine pairings offered (opposite to me you should reserve your spot!), despite the fact they had no space for us, a lovely young "wine passionated" Italian man took the time to explain the winery ethos and of course answered all my questions during the tasting(he spent a couple of years in Australia and spoke perfect english). His insights and personnal preferences are not to be ignored, so much usefull knowledge! Well, the 2018 cabernet sauvignon and the 2015 Nero Mascalese definitely striked my attention! Opposite to a lots of wineries in this area they use french oak barrels instead of chesnut to age their wines.
My experience was a 10 out of 10! (and I've been working in the hospitality industry for 37 years now...)
Wishing this winery the best and will certainly feature some of their wines on my wine list.

We had a visit to the winery as part of our cruise wine tasting experience and this place was amazing! We arrived at the winery and gazed at the beautiful scenery, we had an amazing host Alessandro who arranged for a glass of white wine to be served to all our party as we went into the garden. He gave us a talk about the vineyards and the different layers of soil which included the ash from Mount Etna.
The wine tasting experience was fabulous! We went down into a private room and were served with a plate of different cheeses, porchetta, olives. There were 4 wine glasses at the table including the White wine which was topped up.
Alessandro was fantastic, he gave us lots of information about the different wines, the grapes and what to eat with each wine. We had white, rose, red and a darker red similar to a port. The glasses of wine were topped up accordingly and we continued to listen to the talk and eat the foods. If you wanted more wine they were happy to give you more.
We then had a quick tour around the winery and had an opportunity to buy some of the delicious wines. This was the best wine tasting experience we have ever been on.
We would definitely do this again and recommend this experience to others.
Alessandro was a brilliant host so thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality.

We were for the first time, on 08/17/2023, at the Gambino winery on Etna (in Linguaglossa) for a wine tasting, a total of 4 glasses (2 white and 2 red), specifically 1 grillo, 1 Etna Bianco , 1 nero d'Avola and 1 Etna Rosso. Everything was accompanied by the present and very talented Lara, always smiling and available to answer our many questions. Positive experience, recommended! The only flaw was not having tried the rosé.

Gambino is a large scale winery with an equally large tasting building situated high above Taormina. The view is lovely outside but there is no view in the tasting room which is set up like a crowded restaurant. We had the wine tasting with full menu. The food was ample and the wines fine. The wines were presented at the table with a friendly but brief and difficult to hear description. Overall, the experience was pleasant until time to pay. There was no direction as to where and how to settle up. After a considerable wait behind others buying bottles, we were told rather rudely that our credit card was not acceptable (although it was accepted everywhere else in Sicily). The checkout process rather ruined an otherwise pleasant experience. Would choose another winery next time around.

Had booked a tasting, were received with a welcome wine. Explanation of the grapes and the place on the slope of Mount Etna. A sommelier gave good explanations at the table and poured different wines at intervals. We could taste these with different dishes.

On the advice of a friend who had already visited the company, 3 of us went and already upon arrival we realized the seriousness of the company and the professionalism of the managers and employees. The Etna landscape leaves you speechless, but what is striking is the fervor that can be felt in the air: the staff was very welcoming and appeared competent and friendly, proving the fact that when there are young people to welcome, the customers they leave very satisfied and eager to repeat the experience. A special thanks to the competence and availability of MARTINA, who accompanied us throughout the tasting (2 glasses of white and 2 of black, accompanied by typical Sicilian products of excellent quality). Congratulations!

We had one free day during our 2 night stay in Taormina and we easily drove to Gambino. We booked ahead via their website for their 11am full tasting (39E pp). They are very well set up to handle a lot of people and large bus groups. I’m glad we booked the early tasting to avoid later crowds. The staff are all very friendly and speak English. They poured 4 wines - two whites and two reds and each were from their Mt Etna vineyard and their Sicilian vineyard. It was interesting to compare them. They were generous with the pours and refreshed as we leisurely ate our lunch which was delicious and included cheeses, meats, vegetables, bread, sausage, couscous and topped off by delicious cannolis. It was a great experience for us. From here we drove about a half hour to lovely village of Randazzo and then one hour back to Taormina.

Can anyone please advise or recommend the best way to get to this winery from this cruise terminal.

I would recommend you to contact a tourism agency for this transfer as there is no direct way to arrive there.
There are actually 2 parts: Messina-Taormina about 55 km which can be done by bus/car on A18 or train, then you need to start going up on Etna volcano till Gambino Winery which is not served by public transportation.
