W stayed in Teramo as it was easy for doing several day trips from. However, we had a free afternoon and explored the town. An afternoon is enough to see the restored Romanesque style cathedral, several of the other churches including the old St Catherine and St Anne churches, the Roman domus with hints of mosaics and wall paintings, and the Roman theatre.

We visited the historic center of Teramo on a Saturday evening at the end of September: the main street was very lively, full of nice shops and also interesting architectural works such as the cathedral. I recommend the visit.

I must say that the historic center of Teramo is beautiful and worth a visit. In addition to the Duomo in the same square there is the somewhat neglected Fountain of the Lions and the remains of the Roman Theater and Amphitheater.

It will be because it was not period, it will be because the churches were all closed, but we found this place very sad and above all dirty. Dog poop everywhere, smells of terrible pee, on every corner bags of garbage.
Teramo really disappointed me.

The cathedral and the attraction of Teramo with the former amphitheater the ancient palace near the former mental hospital worth seeing. They discovered archaeological excavations in the center of Piazza Sant Anna and also at the Madonna delle Grazie. It took them forever to renovate the various ancient works perhaps if the 6 million euros or billions spent by Sperandio for those horrible works which were then abandoned by spending more money because they were special waste had been spent on the cathedral amphitheater and the other ancient remains of Teramo it would have been better for Teramo
