About
Thoiry is a rare example of esoteric Renaissance architecture where the sun rises or sets in the central arch following the solstices. Home since 1559 of the Counts of La Panouse, the drawing rooms offer visitors fine family portraits, furniture and tapestries presented by costumed guides. The 300 acre gardens: Rhododendron woods, Maze, Autumn, Rose, and Perfume Gardens, perennial borders give year round pleasure. Thoiry's world famous 350 acre animal reserve is open year round.

Outing to the Thoiry zoo with the family on May 9, 2024. Arrival at 11:00 a.m. We were 7 people so we came in 2 cars. We wanted to do the safari circuit by car first but a gentleman who was driving traffic advised us to do the circuit on foot first. So we went to park. Arrived at the entrance level to have our tickets scanned, first disappointment. We had CE tickets at a reduced price which did not work on a public holiday so we had to add 10 euros per person. Again I can understand for adults but for the 2 children who are 3 years old and 9 years old I find it abusive. He could have added 5 euros per child. After a picnic on foot, stop to watch the entertainers feed the animals. Everything went well apart from a not very friendly person from the zoo who told us that the stroller was prohibited where we were. Sorry we didn't pay attention to the sign. Before 6 p.m. we returned to the parking lot to collect the cars to go on the safari, something the children were looking forward to. They were so happy to go. We take the car. The father of my daughter-in-law walks in front of us. We follow him. In the meantime, pedestrians pass in front of us so we let them pass. Arriving in front of the safari gate we see my daughter-in-law's father's car and the lady who was at the gate closes the gate in our faces. We explain to him that we are a family with 2 cars that we have had to let pedestrians pass and that the children are just waiting for that to do the car circuit. Very unfriendly person who didn't want to know anything. The children started crying, very disappointed. We are therefore disgusted with this walk at the Thoiry Zoo, especially since the tickets require you to pay for both parts. No choice of doing either a walking tour or a car tour.!!!

Honestly, rubbish. No filtering for the Safari, traffic jams galore in the Zoo. Big egoists staying 3 hours in front of the animals result, impossible to see the animals. It's a shame. Pay 25 euros per person for a place so that at 5 p.m. you see absolutely nothing. I don't recommend it and I won't go back. Disappointing experience.

Bonjour,

Very nice zoo, very pleasant. The activities by the keepers are well organized. Numerous picnic areas with shade which is very appreciated. We're having a great day. The car safari is great. Don't forget to take the zoo app, as this gives free access to the audio guide for the car safari. It’s also really nice to be able, at the end of the car safari, to repeat the route. I recommend it because it allows you to see animals that were hidden during the first visit. A very nice day spent 👍

To start with, there are positives contrary to other comments my positives are that the toilet was clean and there were regularly what is convenient with children as well as being able to land as well as children's games.
Two things shocked me again and worried me.
The first the ageing of the park as a whole, everything deteriorates from year to year. The enclosures, the alleys, the decorations, the inside of the tunnels! Paintings of flaking doors for example, gutters that overflow with land. Where are the maintenance men I am not talking about the landscaper or the cleaning man but the people who ensure that the place does not deteriorate who refresh with paint, repair etc. And for the blow cleanliness is also neglected mainly the exterior interior windows.
In my work we practice what is called oxygenation. That is to say go elsewhere to see what is being done and take ideas to improve you should perhaps try.
The second ba animals, you may say there are 1500 we can hardly believe maybe you count the number of pig turkey and 🐜. I am kidding, however it is true that we did not have the Impression of seeing so many I knew the zoo where there were many more animals really. Whether on foot or on a really disappointed safari. American Safari 1 bison seen from a distance and 3 bears is what we saw. Once upon a time the bears we wait at the entrance and the bison crossed the road they were much more numerous.
Thanks to you
All these are not negatives but areas for improvement, hoping to see you respond constructively to all these comments.

Bonjour,

The names of the animals, especially in the zoo section, are very poorly marked.
Deserve to be highlighted to know what animal we see.
At the counter, we were told that it would take 3 quarters of an hour for the tour by car.
We are asked not to stop in the car and to continue driving.
Finally we were stressed and the tour was done in 25 minutes.
We don't travel an hour and a half to get there and do the tour in such a short time.
In the catering areas there was nothing left 2 hours before closing, nothing left to eat, not even an ice cream.
There were only packets of chips left.
Everything is expensive in these places.

We spent a stay in Thoiry to see the wolves. At the end of the afternoon, an animation was proposed. The host was particularly obnoxious to our 2 1/2 year old son. The host placed wolf figures on a coffee table. He told all the other children to touch the figurines except our son, who wanted to touch like the other children. He even went so far as to say, "These are my figurines, you are not allowed to touch them, it is not done!"
I wondered who was 2 years old! We ended up leaving the animation so odious. One of the participants, whose children were constantly cutting off others and monopolizing the speech, told us: "I would have gotten you out of here!" To which the host replied, "I can't, I get paid."
To conclude on this infective behavior, before leaving the animation, my husband asked 3 times when the feeding of the wolves took place (we had come as a family for this time), he gave us an hour. We returned 5 minutes before the time to attend the feeding that had already taken place. The host didn't wait for us. What sadistic pleasure does it have to deprive three children and their parents who came to share this moment with family?
The worst part is that I made a claim that I was never told.
Conclusion, flee this place where they think you're a wallet on legs and where they abuse your children!

Very disappointed with our visit to the zoo.
First of all regarding the safari, it is great and above all we were able to see a lot of animals. On the other hand, red card for the friendliness of the staff. My godmother accidentally opened her window for 3 seconds and a guard scolded us like 3 year olds. Ok he's right it's written although we hadn't seen it but ok he said it was forbidden ok we understand but the way of saying it is shameful. We had a Morale Lesson lasting more than 5 minutes in an aggressive tone and taking us for fools. The day started well. Then you have to park (free parking) and do a lot of walking. It’s true that if you don’t like walking it’s not good for you. And there the same at the entrance to the park a lady scans our tickets and again what a lack of friendliness…. My two-year-old daughter had barely moved forward when she was nastily caught. Frankly we should have left again given how nervous we were already…. Likewise at the end of the day at the shop, no smile, clearly the impression of disturbing….Then the zoo is not very well maintained and above all the price is completely unjustified. Of course it wasn't raining very much but the paths don't absorb the water and everything in front of a huge puddle of water or a puddle of mud. I almost slipped a lot of times, it was impassable and our feet were soaked. The people around us were in the same state of annoyance with young children you are not welcome there is nothing to change the children except in 1 place and still unsanitary, no place in the park to drink a hot coffee separately at the entrance so it's far away. Even the games are not suitable for little ones. You have to be at least 5/6 years old and counting.
Regarding animals, the positive point is their spaces. Very big but that's a lot of walking so you don't see much in the end.
Positive point for the welcome at the restaurant but big negative point for the price and the portions. 10 unfortunate fries for dishes costing more than €11. €7 for a very small wrap. Frankly disappointing +++ across the board.
There is nothing worth the trip. Good if you live very close but otherwise save your agent. 32€ of the flight for what was open and offered.

A great idea to combine a safari and a zoo in the same place.
A little surprising to find a safari in France but it's definitely worth the detour.
Of course you will not ride among lions but you may encounter zebras, bears, wolves, etc.
Speed is limited to 15 km/h throughout the route. Slowdowns are expected if an animal crosses the road.
Keep doors and windows closed for a safe adventure.
The zoo part is simply magnificent.
A beautiful walk that will take you all day if you take care to observe all the animals.
A green and calm setting, everything is there to relax and enjoy the visit.
The animals have beautiful, large, well-maintained enclosures.
The keepers are not stingy with details and information about their animals.
We see that they love their “little” animals.
We witnessed the feeding of red pandas and lions.
For the lions, you will have to place yourself in the lion tunnel. Bits of food sometimes land on top of the tunnel windows, attracting lions. Now is the time to take a close look at the paws and pads of these big cats. And above all, to see the teeth and long canines of these large carnivores up close.
The day passed so quickly that we didn't have time to test the maze, but without much regret.
The only disappointment was not being able to test the zip line passing over the lions and the African plain. The kids were disappointed and sad that the zipline was closed the day we visited.
We understand that operating the zipline from park opening to closing, every day, requires additional staff. Perhaps the park could consider only opening the zipline during a certain window on the current closing days. This would allow everyone to enjoy this activity and the exceptional view it offers.

Coming from the north, we were looking forward to this zoo and especially the safari.
First disappointment, most of the animals are enclosed, the part with the bears and wolves are good but that's all.
On the zoo side, having done Pairi Daiza, I expected a little less good but with just as much wonder, well missed again. In the end, few animals are visible.
The restaurants are a little expensive but it does the job, the staff is half fig, half grape, there are just as many people who are extremely friendly as people who, from the outside, give the impression of being forced to 'be there...
After a trip to the children's games, it was 5:30 p.m., we wanted to finish with the arch of the little beasts, the lemurs and the labyrinth, well not possible because it was closed... At 5:30 p.m.... Inconceivable, only the labyrinth was open , we were told between 20 minutes and 1 hour... In 12 minutes tops, we left...
Also, if you want to do the zip line, count on an additional €10... if you want to be among the lions, count on another €10... A little mini golf? Well it's another €5 extra.. so you arrive at €32 per place + €25 to do the whole thing so €57...
We came because we had pubs and we are lovers of animals and atmospheres.. well unfortunately, I wouldn't come back.
I prefer to spend 43€ in a Pairi Daiza place but the park is MUCH bigger, better structured and with many more animals.

Bonjour,
Votre message y contribuera.
En vous souhaitant une belle journée

We come often because we live 45min from the zoo.
Having visited a lot of zoos in France including Beauval, I salute the work done by the Thoiry teams.
We are always welcomed and every visit the experience is different. The safari delights us. This year we had the chance to witness a "confrontation" scene between two rhinos. It was absolutely beautiful to hear and see them. The zebras came to greet us one after another at the window of our car. We were like kids!
Thoiry’s lights are also a great attraction after spending the day at the zoo.
My only regret is the stupidity of the people: they clap on the windows of the gorillas despite the instructions posted. Or feed chips, popcorn on the safari. More monitoring is needed at this level.

Bonjour,

Aucuns dangers Bonne visite

Bonjour,
