Good place to spend a nice day
May 2019 • Friends
We were here on a Sunday and it is full, but not so bad then other locations I have been. The view is phantastic and if you don’t mind to walk some steps then you can walk down the mountain instead the lift and no one is there. The waterfall is very nice.

So if you like outdoor activities and walking many steps then it is a place to go on a good sunny day.

We paid from Ningbo City Centre to here 170 RMB one way.

I can only recommend this nice and today very clean place

Very beautiful! Easy to reach! Definitely recommend.

We heard it is possible to reach by bus but as we were with 4 persons, we took a taxi to the Xikou bus station. This is the Chinese address: 溪口雪窦山景区售票处 宁波市奉化区. Just show it to the taxi driver and he/she will know. Once you get there (will take around an hour from Ningbo) you can buy tickets inside the bus station. Its easy to see what kind of tickets you are buying as they have images of the activities. You can visit the Buddha, some waterfalls with amazing views and you can take a cable cart to the top. Tickets cost around 150 RMB which gives you a return ticket with the shuttle bus and access to the Buddha and the other part of the park. It was definitely worth a visit! Would recommend if you have the time.

This was our second time at Fenghua Xikou Xuedou Mountain. Warm or cold weather, this is a must go place! Beautiful nature with a lot of green, bonsais, waterfalls, and breathtaking golden Buddha.

Nature at its best...plus incredible Buddhist Temple
Jul 2018 • Friends
Looking for a natural getaway within a few hours of Shanghai, this is it! Fenghua Xikou Xuedou Mountain. Maybe it’s best to describe as a mountain area or large park as it is much more than just a mountain.

For tickets, there are online and on property options available. Take the full package to include the temple, monorail and cable cars!

After entering the park, you board a bus and off you go to the top of the mountain to see a waterfall. There is an optional glass walkway hanging on the side of the cliffs that allow a nice close up of the falls just below the start.

The 2nd stop is the start of a walk down the mountain encompassing upper, middle and lower waterfalls plus many in between. Path well defined, lots of steps but beautiful views and didn’t destroy the natural area. At the bottom is a monorail to another waterfall, then cable cars up the mountain.

Final stop was a beautiful Buddhist Temple which is one of the top 5 in China.

A great way to enjoy a day in nature!

DIY Xuedou Mountain for foreigners
Nov 2017 • Family
After my day trip to Xuedou Mountain from Ningbo, I think the best way to visit Xuedou is to join a one day tour so the guide will take care of everything for you. However, if you are someone like me who wants to have the freedom of exploring places on his/her own pace, then this review will give you tips I learnt through my trip.
1- First things first, how to get there? There are two buses you can take from the Ningbo South Bus Terminal next to the Ningbo Railway Station. One is in the terminal - direct coach bus to Xikou (10 yuan/person and comfortable). The other is the regular bus (#987) for the same destination, but it takes twice the amount of time as taking the coach bus because it stops at all the villages along the way to Xikou (not a good choice unless you missed last bus from Xikou to Ningbo).
2- Once you arrive at Xikou Bus Terminal, there is local bus (#106) you can take within the terminal. The Xuedou Mountain is at its last stop so it is worry free ride.
3- Buy tickets at Xuedou visitor center when you arrive. The ticket includes a 30 yuan transport fee that gives you unlimited bus rides within the park. There is a student discount rate for the park ticket, so bring student ID cards if you have teens with you.
4- Decide what you want to visit: Temple, Miaogaotai, and Sanyin Pond. Miaogaotai is a lookout where you can have a great view of the mountain and the lake (reservoir) below. Sanyin Pond (three hidden ponds) is a hike about 2 miles, with an elevation change of about 2000 feet. You can choose to take the cable car downhill and hike up to the main road, to the bus stop, or take the bus to Sanyin Pond bus stop, walk downhil, and then take the small monorail and the cable car back to Miaogaotai.
5- For us, the best part of the visit was the Sanyin Pond -, there are beautiful scenes and water falls. We chose to take the cable car downhill and hiked up the mountain. It was physically demanding.

Maitreya Buddha Temple, Xuedou Temple, this temple is part of a larger xuedou scenic mountain area. Also one of the five major buddhist mountains in China.

Day trip Xikou

Great place for a day trip. You can escape from the busy city life of Ningbo and relax in the nature. It has many waterfalls, a nice hiking path, and a big golden Buddha statue. It is easy accessible by über, taxi or bus.

Enjoy the visit with cleaned air

Joined a one day tour in Ningbo. Visited a few places that include Xuedou Mountain. The Buddha statue is big and magnificent. Said to be conferred 5th "must visit" mountain (??) soon. Worth a visit but take note there will be many steps to climb up the mountain. ..

Great place for a full one day trip
Aug 2015 • Friends
There are two main parts. The giant buddha temple area and the long walk in the mountains. Arrive the night before. Start the morning in the temple part which is interesting and makes for some great photos. Also you can eat in the monks vegetables restaurant for 15rmb. Later head of for a walk through the mountains. You can expect to see 6-8 waterfalls. End your day at the end/start and take the bus back to Fenghua. There is a western Chinese restaurant in the city. Leave in the morning and spend a half day at Ningbo.

Beautiful scenery
Jan 2015 • Family
We came from shanghai to see this mountain area, it did not disappoint , we came with a Chinese speaker so she was able to translate and also speak to the person in the ticket office. The ticket system is very confusing , not only that but you need to get there early (we got there at 2.30 ) we were told that we could not go on the cable car or small train which was disappointing . The trip up the mountain on the bus has many twists and turns (on the way back we got the last bus and the trip was scary). We saw the monastery briefly it looked very peaceful there were not many people about. The Budha is enormous . The scenery is great and chiangKai-shek home is very interesting. There are very smooth paths but quite steep. We got the last bus to the town we were then too late to get the bus back to ningbo , we had to get a taxi, and it was only 5.30 pm. It was a really good afternoon but my advice is go in the morning.
