Loved this ancient and quaint town - the peddlars are super annoying - if you dont buy or use their offered services, you have to keep moving - i was scolded by a woman peddlar for refusing to use her services to braid my hair - she told me to make sure she does not see me others doing for... Fenghuang, as the hole town, not just this ancient tower, is extremely touristy place, with thousands of (mostly Chinese) tourists walking around, gawking, taking selfies (gosh ppl rest of the world gave up on the selfie sticks, when are you going to?) yelling and what not. Riverfront now has tons of restaurants and bars, neon signs everywhere, loud music etc.... More

One of the architectural landmarks of the city. It's not a very big city, so you'll probably end up with pictures of the tower anyhow :D

Fenghuan (Phoenix City) is a bigger scale Old Village with the Tuo River that runs thro it as the main centerpiece offering great views of the houses (many built on wooden stilts) especially by night when these houses are nicely lit offering great night views especially when viewed from the southern bank. Some nice cafes where one could relax and... More

The beautiful iconic tower is located directly at the Tuojiang River in the middle of the ancient center east of the old Hong Bridge. Access is free of charge. The picturesque tower dominates the view at day and night and attracts many tourists so that the area nearby is especially busy. It’s a good place to take photos, try local... More

Beautiful but becoming nothing more than a "college spring break" atmosphere at night. You will see many local tribe people in traditional clothing, but don't be fooled by all the young people having their photos taken along the waterfront-seemingly in traditional clothing. These are "dress up" photos. They are donning traditional clothing (rented) to have their pix taken... Not locals... More

This was a lovely way to see this ancient town. The houses along the river are built on stilts. No life jackets, you just get on board for an enjoyable ride. I thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride and highly recommend it.

This town is, sadly like a corpse which someone has tried to bring back to life by injecting it with millions of corpuscles in the former of milling tourists. It is disturbingly loud with the screaming amplifiers of the tourist guides competing with ghetto blasters from the wall-to-wall bars along the beautiful waterfront. Refuge in a restarant was fruitless, as... More
