The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) has given us the following commendation: The world's largest, most successful Arctic whale watching operation is Hvalsafari AS in Andenes. Why Whalesafari from Andenes? We have a natural advantage in Andenes since the edge of the continental shelf is closer to land than anywhere else along the coast of Norway. In the bay that constitutes this part of the shelf, a stable stock of sperm whales feeds and thus forms the basis of whale watching tours in the region of Vesteralen. It is only a one hour voyage from Andenes to the whale feeding grounds. A normal trip lasts about 2 to 4 hours (the duration depend on the distance where the whales are that day and how long it takes to find the first one). The product educational activities form the nucleus of whale safari tours in Andenes. Right from the start, our whale safaris have involved research, learning and adventure joined together in one single, integrated unit. The idea has attracted considerable attention both in Andenes and abroad. Guarantee - The great sperm whales are found in a specially nutrient-rich area northwest of Andenes. There are no other places in Norway where the edge of the continental shelf lies so close to the shore as it does near Andenes. Experience shows that whales are spotted during 99 percent of the safaris. Our guarantee: we´ll give you a free new trip if the boat does not find any cetacean the first time, or your money back (minus admin expenses). Scientists and Guides: the guides at the Whale Centre and on board our vessels are scientists and students from many different countries. In such a way, every excursion feels like a research project.

We've been on two trips with Whalesafari, and both were excellent. The first time we went in the summer - it was a bit of a rough day so we weren't sure whether we would be able to go out (we stayed in Andenes for several days to give ourself the best chance of getting out, which I would recommend),... We visited Andenes for 4 nights at the end of January 2016 as part of a group organised by Discover the World. Our visit was based in the Whalesafari Centre (we stayed elsewhere in Andenes) and all meals and other activities took place in the centre. We went out on three whale-watches over three days and each trip was wonderful.... More

I booked a trip with my parents in July of 2014 for their wedding anniversary and prepaid with a credit card. When the trip was delayed due to weather and scheduling, we were offered an option to get the refund on the credit card and cancel the trip; I picked that option. For 3 persons the cost (excluding museum visit,... More

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! I have to say that unfortunately your story is not completely true. Your card had a lot of problems and we tried I don't know how many times to refund it while talking to you via e-mail. At the end I gave the message to refund you via bank transfer, something that cost much more... More

anbei einfach mein brief an die veranstalter-ps antwort kam nie-ladies and gentlemen-we did the whale safari on 3.9.2015 with our children and it was very very disappointing; we travelled so far and came from austria and trusted you; the only good thing was the museum but what came after was wreckless, irresponsile and only business;not only that you gave us... Thanks for your feedback! It is always regretful to hear somebody did not enjoy our safari. You mentioned that we never replied to your mail. I have checked our system twice with all the names on your reservation, and I did not find any single message from you. We normally answer inquiries within one or two working days. I would... More

I highly recommend this whale safari. The crew aboard does a very good job. They kniw so much about whales and are very good in telling stories and inform the whale watchers. We went out on a rainy and windy day about 22 nautical miles from Andenes, and we did observe 3 sperm whales. Join them, they are very clever.

Thanks for your feedback! We are very glad you enjoyed it. We run a long and comprehensive guide training and it is nice to hear the guides are appreciated. I will pass your message on to them. Our crews have many years of experience behind them and even though sometimes it takes a bit longer to get to the whales,... More

We chose to go for a one day safari with whale safari in Andenes and had a great time. the ticket includes a guided tour in their museum which was very informative and interesting. It also included the 4-5 hours boat ride. It takes about 1 hour+ to get to the area where the whales are, after that you will... More

We went on the whale safari on July 26, 2015. The experience comprised 2 parts, the museum and the boat trip. The museum was informative, but nothing special, you get more out of the visit if you actively ask the guide questions. We found the guide to be quite knowledgeable. The boat trip delivered on promises, i.e., we did get... More

Took this trip in the morning. The sea was not that rough. Took some pills to avoid sea sickness, but didn't help at all. After less than an hour I and lots of others had to go down and fill plenty of bags. The staff was helpfull. We had the small boat. There's lots of space, but hardly room to... More

We were informed that the tours typically last between 2-4 hours, but could potentially run "a bit" longer. While I certainly don't hold them responsible for knowing exactly how long it will take to find the whales, it is COMPLETELY unacceptable to have people on a boat for 8 hours without prior notification. In addition, because the sea was very... More

We tried to book a trip about five times with no luck with the weather. No complaints about the weather but the reservation system does not work at all. I was standing in the line about 4 hours during the one day. Also same thing with the money back guarantee. The were trying to charge for the museum visit I... More
