We were dismayed when the rain came down as we approached the garden, however, we had little need to worry because we were provided with plastic ponchos by the friendly reception staff. Our individual commentary devices were also encased in plastic covers, so off we set well protected from the elements, and since this is a mini rain forest, the... More

Easy to get to, great knowledgeable staff (thanks CE), well laid out informative gardens and the cooking school was wonderful. Rohanna and her team were smart, supportive and fun and the food we made was great.

Situated just past Batu Ferringhi beach on the 101 bus from Georgetown, this garden complex is well worth a visit. If you can spare a half-day enrol for a cooking course. You begin with a guided tour of the garden, concentrating on spice and edible herb specimens. Then it's into the air-con kitchen in a small group with the instructing... More

Pluses: Easy to reach with bus 101 from George Town, easy to use and cheap audioguides providing lots and lots of information, lovely surroundings with lots of plants and animals, lots of hoto opportunities, even hammock, swing and kid's slides for those not that into nature. Minuses: Not really minus if you come here when it opens and leave just... More

It is a place that reminds you the beauty of nature when your mind is fulled with burdens. A place where you really relax and give everything to nature. it is worth to pay a visit whenever you are free and want to enjoy your life.

If you visit the tropical gardens then try to join the tour in the morning where the guide can provide context to the plants. It is a little oasis in batu ferringhi, with a decent cafe/Resturant (you might even see the monkeys) My son enjoyed looking at the map and trying to find the various sections and the giant swing... While in George Town we decided to visit the Spice Gardens as they were close to where we were staying. I must admit I am a keen tropical gardener so was looking forward to the visit. On arrival we paid a small amount to join a small group on a guided tour of the gardens. It was well worth it... More

The place is like stepping into an Amazonian jungle. Upon entry you are mesmerised by the tropical atmosphere, greenery as far as the eyes can see and marvelous incline of the landscape. If you have an interest in flora, fauna or floristry it is a must - if you don't have a interest, it is still worth visiting as it... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We used the audio recording and found it informative, easy to use and you can just skip over any parts you find less interesting. Very well organised and the nicest gift store we've come across after 2 weeks in Malaysia. The food at the restaurant was also fantastic (menu a tad pricey but worth it).

I recommend that you book a guide for this trip who will be able to explain to you all about the plants, it's origin, various uses. The guide we had was very good which visit do much more enjoyable even for my 2 teenagers. This is a pleasant place to visit - cool, lush and green and a pleasant change... More
