This is the best place to visit in Nainital. It has leopard, tiger, red panda, deers, peacock etc with a great view.

An Amzing Place
Jan 2021
This place requires a lot of physical strength alongwith plenty of motivation to "climb" to actually enjoy the environment. You are suggested to do it between 1300 hours and 1700 hours, as this place closes by 1630 hours. Plenty of stamina, strength and endurance is required to see it completely.

Ofcourse, at the end of it, you would enjoy it completely.

Wonderful attraction in Nainital
Dec 2020 • Family
Wonderful zoo. If you are visiting Nainital do visit this zoo. All the animals were active n seems happy. Main attraction was tiger and lepord both were roaming here n there I guess it was their food time so better go in afternoon. At that time animals will be active.

High Altitude Zoo @ 2100 meter above Sea Level
Nov 2020
Hey Travellers,

It was a good experience and time spent as this is my 3rd visit to any Zoo after Delhi and Lucknow Zoo but 1st to a Zoo at such a high altitude.

It is well maintained and clean but involves high altitude walking so I won't suggest it to Senior Citizen people or People with Blood Pressure or Heart problem.

The main attraction in this Zoo is-
Royal Bengal Tiger
Leopard
Sloth Bear
Wolf
Eagle etc.

The ticket price is very nominal i.e. 100 bucks for an adult and there is also a science centre which is knowledgeful especially for kids but involves a ticket with again a nominal charge of 30 bucks.

There is also a Shuttle to Zoo service which picks you from mall road and drop you at Zoo by charging 59 bucks but if you have rented scooter or bike you can go to Zoo and park it there itself.

Nice zoo
Feb 2020 • Family
We visited Nainital in Feb 2020 and it was a memorable experience. As the name says the zoo is very high up in Nainital but worth a visit especially if you have young kids with you. Your private car/taxi isn't allowed to take you upto the zoo so there is a shuttle which is available near India hotel in Mall road to take you upto the zoo which is not more than a 10 minute drive. There is an entry ticket you need to buy at the zoo's entrance. The zoo is very well maintained and the animals look healthy and well taken care of.

Nice visit
Feb 2020 • Friends
The high altitude zoo is a nice place located up above hills. It's not ideal for senior citizens or those who have mobility issues. You need good amount of energy and the animal enclosures are located uphills(many!)

One can see Bengal tigers, leopards, bears, red panda, birds, barking deer, spotter deers etc. Must visit for kids and we can enjoy incredible views from top

Varied Animals, Birds and Humans :-)
Apr 2019
Location:
- Entrance situated at the end of Mall road (Main high street of Nainital City)

Commute:
- One can walk uphill of 2 kms for main entrance
- One can hire an auto running exclusively on the Zoo route (Inexpensive)

Zoo:
- Surprisingly I found it to be at par of any mini zoo Internationally
- Very neat and clean
- Ticket system also pretty organised
- Wide variety of animals, birds and other elements one finds in a zoo
- Seems the authorities take good care of the wild life as were healthy beings
- Merchandise availability to take back souvenirs
- Lots of vantage points for a good click and memories

Minuses
- Be ready to trek up hill inside the zoo as well as its a hilly terrain
- No good Eateries (But on Mall road ample of options available at 2 kms)

Happy journey!

Worth it
Oct 2019
It is a small Zoo, but well kept.. Need about 2 /3 hrs to enjoy the place at leisure .. Remeber, being on a hill top, the roads are all steep. So, to visit exhibits, you need to either climb up/ down a steep slope almost all the time. So some level of physical fitness is needed.

We were told, that no private vehicles can go upto the zoo.
You need to hire shared taxi from Mall road. The charges for which are fixed. This did not look value for money, but the zoo is totally worth it..

Please remember to keep the place clean so the next person enjoys it the way you did :)
