Walked up to the top on a decent sunset eve (8:04 setting) - sadly the viewing platform was closed ! - good view to the East - but sunset view applied by telegraph pole

Needs a sort out

Sure, you might expect it, but the view is really cool. From Ventoux to Canigou! To be completed by the site of the Pierres Blanches, which allows you to admire the view towards the west, which cannot be seen from Mont Saint-Clair. Obviously, in the middle of summer, it's difficult to park, but there is bus 5... Obviously, when the weather isn't clear enough, you can see less well...

Nice view in itself, but little to no explanation about the history. An additional disadvantage: locals walk their dogs here en masse, so you look down more than at the surroundings and the view. As a result, the route was cut off and went elsewhere.

Sete is a pretty little town with canals, a fishing village near the Pyrenees Mountains. Canal Royal gives a lovely view of pleasure craft and fishing boats and iron bridges that swing open. The canals were dug in 1666 and link the Atlantic and Mediterranean. There are 12klm's of beaches and a cycle path. We did the very steep climb to Mont Saint Clair and Notre Dame de la Salette a little Chapel decorated with frescoes. It took about 45 minutes walk from the cruise ship and we are in early 70's. Can take the public bus #5 but there are long queues, a bus schedule is available at the Tourist Office at 60 Grand rue Mario Roustan. Loved the great views from the top and it was well worth the steep walk and steps and it's free. Enjoy a glass of wine E2.70 when you make it back into town and take in a pretty village on the Mediterranean.

We took the bus and were rewarded by magnificent views over Sete and the surrounding area. There is a small chapel close by which is well worth a visit too.

We were staying in Sète and so drove up here. There was ample parking and the view by the side of the cross (pictured) was amazing. We could see how all the canals and the lagoon connected and we spied our hotel. You can then go in the beautiful little chapel by the car park and we also went into another building where you can climb to the rooftop terrace from where this photo must have been taken. There was also some crafts being exhibited and fir sale in the Hall teacher. A worthwhile hour or so.

The view from the top of Mont St-Clair is terrific, even on a relatively cloudy day as we had. It really gives you a great overview of the area. If you have a car, I STRONGLY urge you to just drive up and look at the view. The climb looked a bit daunting to me.

You reach the summit and enjoy a great panorama view of all Sète! Mountains, sea, port and the nature.

The church also is very original, it's totally different of the modern age churches, drawings is very good and very different

When the cross up there is lighten up the view is great.

If you're looking for a relaxing moment, beside all of Sète, this is the best area for this

* buses is available and very cheap, the ride even up and down is very interesting

Don't drive IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO, although if you can't walk easily you will not have any choice as it is a good steep winding climb by the road past the Musee Paul Valery or up the steep flights of steps to the other side of the hill.

The view below is bountiful and - lingering on a warm day - watch the waves, the boats, life going on down below in the port town of Sete, a place full of atmosphere and charm.

Each visit to Sete is worth ascending the hill anew as with the changing light, the seasons, the time of day and the weather, the scene is rarely the same.

We have visited the area many times but never been up on to Mont St-Clair. It is brilliant. We were expecting to have a long walk but in the end it was an easy drive to the top and there was an adequate car park. The viewpoint is exceptional. There are incredible panoramic 360 degree views over Sete and the oyster beds of the Etang de Thau. You can see miles up and down the coast and it is well worth a visit. I would have happily walked there for these views. An added bonus was that once at the top we found that you can also climb the tower near by (free of charge) and see even more from the roof top. Can recommend this for a trip out. There is also a nearby bar/café which does good smoothies for a refreshing drink before leaving to return to the town.
