Highly recommended.

An interesting, accessible and relatively short exhibit. A great way to start a walking tour around Vitré to get interesting background information about the city's history.

I have been in France for 20 years and had never been to Vitré not even really heard about it. It is one of France's best kept secrets! We stopped off on our way 1 night before visiting family in the Rennes area. The château is really magnificent and it is worth walking all the way around it to see... More

I specifically came to Vitré to check out this castle. It didn't disappoint me at all. Please check the hours online before coming. The castle looks majestic on the outside. Although it's free to wander into the courtyard, ticket costs 6 Euros for an adult. You use the ticket's bar code to scan at the door on the building on... More

This fortress Chateau is a magnificent example of how well a building dating back to the 12th century can be preserved and maintained. During opening hours it is free to wander into the large central courtyard but the museum charges a entry fee. It dominates the town and is a fantastic photo opportunity

This place was the main reason we took a trip to Vitre and the family wasn't disappointed. There are photo opportunities galore and when we asked about the cost of entry we were amazed at being told it was only 4 Euros for the adults only as kids and students go free. The small amount extra gives you access to... More

You can walk round the courtyard for free but spend the 4 € per adult and begin your visit in the tower. The various floors contain simple but effective exhibitions and you also visit the tiny chapel

This is a chateau that has masses of character and is well worth a visit. For a small fee you can visit some of the towers and there are nice exhibitions with interesting architecture.

Beautiful old chateau with towers. You can visit 7 different rooms for 4€. Amazing fireplaces and interesting architecture. Walk there via the old city and it is an enjoyable short walk.
