This museum surprised me. I expected it to be nice but minor. But I ended up spending a good chunk of time, as I got a sense of history, from the pre-classical Ancient Greek time to 19th century revolution, to modern times. It has ancient...More

Galaxidi is a historic ship-building town that had an important role in Greek Independence from Ottoman rule. The Maritime Museum in Galaxidi offers visitors an excellent way to experience the history of the town.

The museum tells the story of Galaxidi, which despite its long history is not that interesting. Most of information was about its naval history but there were some exhibits older than 3000 years old

Nice to be able to Vitoria the history of Galaxidi. I believe the visit would be more useful if there were videos showing details and examples

I have a love of provincial museums - so often cash-strapped, but doing the essential work of keeping local history alive. And Galaxidi's story is an extraordinary one. Destroyed twice in the 1820s by the Ottomans in the Greek War of Independence, the city rallied...More
