Set in a quiet compounds of old high school, this is a museum NOT to be missed ... to get the better understanding of what Gandhi's life was and how he came to be the Father Of Nation that gave India its Independence. The museum paints beautifully thru each halls (36 in all) the childhood, growth & the later years of Mahatmaji's life. The staff will give you undivided attention for hours on end if you really take your time thru the halls. 10/10.

Still now Rajkot was having limited place preserved with memories of great leader MAhatmaji like kaba Gandhi no delo and rastriya shala.but no visualisation or things were available.
With the conversion of Alfred school from where he had studied, is now converted in museum in short span and was inaugurated very recently by Hon’ble prime minister ,is must visit place during Rajkot visit .
The set up is comparable to international standards.. volunteers are very helpful. While we spent about 2-2.5 hours, we couldn't complete seeing the entire Museum. We felt that it has been under publicised & deserves much more public attention.

Only a Museum in the last 2 years. Comprehensive summary of many facets of Gandhi’s family, life & events & philosophy. Would be good to make a ‘rest point’ at the completion of the ground floor rooms.

We went to the Mahatma Gandhi museum in Rajkot, expecting the usual, dull dreary display of Gandhi memorabilia. However, as soon as we entered the sprawling campus (erstwhile Alfred High School now converted into a museum), it was apparent that this is a museum unlike most others. This was further re-affirmed when we entered the very first gallery. What strikes you immediately is that this is a world-class creation.

Firstly, unlike any typical museum, this one is not a display of collectibles and artefacts. Rather, it is a super-creative glimpse into the Mahatma's life journey. Each important step of that journey has been brilliantly re-created audio-visually. It is designed to keep people from all age groups interested. There are 39 galleries in all, with galleries 1 to 18 dedicated to the life and times of Gandhiji (each gallery also has an interactive kiosk summarising the chronology of events displayed in that gallery), and galleries 19 to 39 showcasing his values and principles. The staff is courteous and takes pains to explain the significance of each individual gallery.

Whether you are a believer of Gandhian philosophy or not, a visit to this museum is highly recommended, purely to appreciate the ingenuity at work. It is bound to be money (entry fee Rs. 25 per adult and Rs. 10 per child in Dec 2021) and time (easily a couple of hours if you have time on hand) both well-spent. Hats off to the team that designed and set it up, as well as the team that maintains the creation - certainly something to be proud of.
