This is the classic example of the history of Afghanistan: grand and regal one generation, war torn and destructive the next. The building is large and a good example of the unique architecture of the region. The govt seems to be attempting a reconstruct, but...More

The Palace is under construction. It may takes another two year to be completed. There were a few photos published by Kabul Media a few weeks ago. The Palace was very very beautiful on that time. Unfortunately, it is damaged during Mujahedin war in Kabul.

When in Afghanistan, this is a site to see. It was once an incredible tribute to decadence that has been wrecked beyond repair. It is interesting to see the building techniques and architecture in such a location as central Afghanistan.

Clearly a palace of magnificence in its day but now destroyed by the Taliban and one has to mostly imagine what it might have been like. Vestiges of grandeur still remain.

Darulaman Palace is a nice landmark to visit and recall the days of civil war in Afghanistan. The old and wrecked palace is something to pay a visit once you are in kabul

It seems to was the main attraction in Kabul, but now it's totally destroyed and you need to ask for a permission to get inside.

It takes imagination to work out what it was like pre-conflict but it is a fascination place. There are stated intent to restore the Palace. My guess is that this will result in it being closed to the public for a very long time.
