This is the temple for Lord Shiva as the main deity. Lord Budhan is located in the outer premise of this huge temple complex. You can also see the Shiva Padam in this temple complex. You have Natraja Temple in this temple complex where the Temple Roof resembles the Chidambaram Temple.

A must visit temple for pilgrims on Navagraha tour.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha- one of the famous Navgraha temples. Situated near Myladuthurai, it has access via train and road. Can chose to stay at Mayavaram or Chidambaram. The temple is ancient with three ponds adding to its beauty. As per custom one should do 17 parikrama of lord Buddha. People like to build small toy houses out of bricks and mortar available nearby to pray for their own house. Temple timings are 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. If you are planning for abhishekam be their by 8:30 AM. Ask the priest inadvance, he'll make necessary arrangements.

This temple is about 12KM from SIRKZHI. The main god is SWATHARANESWARAR..It is also famous for BHDHAN BAHAVAN,one of navagraha gods. The temple purana says you will get lot of dosha niverthi when praying to Budha bahavan with lighted lamps.
Opposite to Budhansthalam you can find RUDRAPADHAM.You might have heard about VISHNUPADHAM AT GAYA where we used to perform certain rituals for our ancestors which is considered to be a must for HINDUS.
iN THE SAME WAY THIS rudrapadham is also an important place to perform rituals for ancestors..

Salient features to note:
1. One of the six shrines that are considered equal to Kasi with its holiness
2. There are three tanks (Mukkulam) in the shrine and a symbolic dip in each of these tanks is said to ward off all your sins.
3. Similar to the Vishnu patham that is available in Gaya, this place is the only place with Rudra patham. Pooja to pithrus and annadhana at this place is said to absolve pithru dosha.
4. Lord exists in a unique collosal form of Agora Veerabhadrar in this temple.
5. Natarajar resides in a beautiful wood like sabhai
6. Ambal here goes by the name of Brahma Vidhyambal who blesses devotees with knowledge and wisdom
7. Sivan and Ambal are worshipped to absolve progeny issues. Prayer should be done through the verses of Sambandhar
8. Parihara sthalam for Budhan (Mercury)
9. Murugan here is glorfied by Saint Arunagirinathar

Tips:
1. Never miss Rudra patham. It is in a remote corner of the outer prakaram and can easily be missed. Ask for directions to it and visit the holy spot.
2. Brahma vidyambal is the key goddess to pray for enhancing wisdom which will also get you the blessings of Budhan automatically. Never missing lighting lamps for Ambal. People easily miss her and just pray to Budhan. This may not be fully effective.
3. Tanks here are so poorly maintained and the water is so full of worms. So just sprinkle few drops on the head and dip your feet scantly. Strongly suggest to wash your feet in a seperate tap outside the tank to avoid any potential infection due to worms.
4. Plan to visit Parthanpalli, a lesser known but a beautiful Divya desam which is just 4 to 5 kms from this temple.

This temple is massive and you feel the awe of its size as soon as you enter the temple. The main deity is lord Swetharanyeswarar (One staying in a forest of white lotus) and the goddess is Brahma vidhyambal - who is supposed to bless devotees with intellectual cognizance. This temple is Navagraha sthalam for Lord Budhan (Mercury) who is supposed to rule one's nervous system, brain, controls wit, intelligence and responsible for education. The temple has 3 ponds. The Aghora moorthi statue in this temple is awe inspiring. The temple is maintained very well.
