    Wonderful Hobart Day Trip
Blown away. It's a bit of a trek from Hobart so we missed it the first visit down. Had some extra days this time and wanted to hit a spot we hadn't before. So glad we drove the 1 hr 40 mins for this little adventure. Not only is it spectacular to see, but the more and more you learn about what it is you are looking at the more blown away you are. I am severely clausterphobic and had zero issues with this cave (I have a panic attack if an elevator stalls even momentarily). I let the guide know and she kept checking in on me and making sure I was okay. The tour guide was not only incredibly kind but so knowledgeable and did a wonderful job keeping us all, including the kids, engaged. There is a thermal pool--but it's not quite what we thought it would be. It's a motel-style pool with spring water...it's not as hot as I'd anticipated but the kids loved. There is a lovely hotsprings track that starts from the pool area and a nice little cafe for some snacks and drinks.

    Happy times at Hastings Caves
An absolutely brilliant and breathtaking experience at Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs. Our tour guide, Ella, was knowledgeable and informative and the rock formations and water pools and steps - unlike anything I've seen before! Highly recommended if you are in the area. Remember to wear warm clothing and good walking shoes.

    AMAZING!!!
WOW! WOW! WOW! If you have the time to take the journey the hasting caves are a must. We as a family of four took the journey and we weren’t disappointed. The tour guide was amazing so was the walk to the caves. The caves themselves were something that will amaze you and if you take your swimmers the thermal pool is in a stunning little spot to warm up after viewing the caves. Well worth the trip. We highly recommend you taking the country bay side trip to this amazing place.

Beautiful above and below the forest
Highly recommend a visit to the caves if you’re anywhere near the area! Even if you’ve been to similar caves before, it was phenomenal seeing the forest above and then knowing you’re standing 50 meters below it. Very impressed to see how much the walkways and necessary railings were built around the natural formations, to minimize the impact to the cave. Paul was our guide, with Erica leading the first group ahead of ours, both were friendly and welcoming. Paul never made us feel rushed, and was full of knowledge.

Interesting and enjoyable guided experience in the Hastings Caves .
Spectacular view in the caves which were lit making it easy to take photos. The 450 steps in the caves were wet in some places but were well supported with hand rails . Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Very interesting and enjoyable experience.

    Hastings Cave & Thermal Pool
Beautiful part of Tasmania, 90 min drive from Hobart. Cave was huge, tour guide was informative and fun. Thermal pool was great, we took sausages for bbq, a fabulous time had by all and in a stunning setting. There is a cafe if you don’t wish to take your own and a great souvenir shop. Can easily spend a full day here.

    Cave spectacular
Just a quick trip to the caves on our day trip worth the visit. Didn't bring out togs so have the hot springs a miss. The caves were a pleasant 9 degrees inside and the steps were very easy as the guide never rushed us. 500 in & out. Lovely stroll to caves just make sure you get there a bit earlier to get tickets and slight drive to where you walk into the caves.

Thanks so much for your feedback & as you say, our facilities at 412 for a family for all day use is very affordable. Unfortunately we cannot control the water temperature - that's what is comes up from underground at & it is pleasantly warm. Cheers from the Hastings Team.

I am embarrassed to say I can't remember the female guides name but she was so knowledgeable and loved her job which made us all really enjoy her enthusiasm. This guided tour was amazing, lots of stairs but there was no rush. Beautiful formations and we were lucky that we had a beautiful singer in our group and when the lights were turned off her Hymn just moved everyone. It's a pity that there is such a big restriction on numbers as so many people are missing out as are the takings for the caves which go towards maintenance.
Make sure you book before driving all the way out there.
The thermal pool was only 29 degrees and I found it a bit cool, but there is a great BBQ area and open fire and a couple of nice walks.

Enjoyed really our visit to the caves ,our guides Jo and Phil were amazing and it is obvious in their presentation of the caves that they both enjoy what they do . The caves themselves def have you saying wow quite a few times, just beautiful .
We enjoyed a yummy toastie sandwich ,scones and coffee in the cafe afterwards and went for a stroll around the walking path ,did not see the platypus but it was a lovely walk all the same .

The best part of this natural wonder was the incredible underground caves. Many millions of years have the most beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Little ‘candle’ like formations hang from the ceilings and glisten in the torchlight.

We thoroughly enjoyed the great cave formations and the guide was first class. We had a small group which gave the guide more time to explain things. (We didn't waste time waiting for stragglers to catch up)

Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife have done an amazing job of establishing and maintaining these grounds.
The cave experience (a short drive from the kiosk) far exceeded our expectations! Our guide was passionate and very knowledgeable.
Hidden behind the kiosk is the impeccably maintained thermal spring pool if you’re up for a swim (included in cave experience price) and bbq hut area with 4 spotless bbqs and plenty of table seating for numbers. Plumbed toilets and showers are also provided.
Behind the pool are 2 short walks (10 & 30 mins) which take you through the springs where you can spot (if lucky) platypus, eels and fish.
A definite must see experience with an affordable price.

Amazing family day out. With two almost adult teenage boys it can be difficult to find suitable places to visit. This is certainly one of them! The guide we had was great very easy to communicate with no matter your age. Having myself been to the caves previously l was presently surprised to see little change in the condition of the cave - visually you can tell much has been done to protect and preserve. And to finish of with a dip in the pool was a relaxing end to the day.

The forest was very natural and beautiful. The Thermal Pools were closed for maintenance, which was a pity in the peak tourist times. The Cave was different to others we have seen because it is dolomite, not limestone. The guide was informative and we did not feel rushed at all. Although it is 9 degrees celsius, with all the walking up and down stairs, it certainly was not cold! The scones at the cafe were absolutely huge and delicious. Staff were very helpful and professional.

These caves are spectacular! After a lovely drive from Hobart (about 1.5 hrs) you reach the visitors centre. Grab your ticket (call and book a spot a few days in advance) then drive another few km's to the cave carpark. An easy 200 metre walk to the cave entrance where you meet the guides. Our guides were Erica and Sharon...they know their stuff and very obviously have a passion for the place. We were taken on a 45 minute tour where they explained how the caves were ( and continue to be ) created. Lots of small steps down ( i wasn't sure how I'd go climbing back out) but you're so distracted by the caves beauty, you don't notice the steps! Consider a light jacket...its a constant 9° down there. Definitely check this out.

Hastings Caves tour is well worth going to this remote location. A beautiful caves, full of interesting features

Book on the phone 2 weeks ahead, then arrive 45 minutes prior to tour time, to get your tickets from the information building, then drive the extra 20 minutes along the fully sealed road to the cave entrance.

The walk from that carpark to cave was also very beautiful
