We enjoyed visiting the windmill - the gentleman who showed us around was very knowledgeable and could answer any question we asked with his passion for this restoration project clearly evident. The children loved climbing up to the top of the windmill and 'helping' engage the sails. Spent around 90 minutes here in total, though some of that was just sitting out in the sunshine on the grass enjoying the peaceful setting. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

We had a wonderful visit to the oldest windmill in Ireland. Our tour guide Barry was very informative and entertaining. If you want to step back to 18th century Ireland and enjoy yourself in Roscommon, the windmill is well worth the time.

We visited the Elphin Windmill at the weekend. The visitor centre was closed when we arrived as it was quiet late in the evening but we could still see the whole area from outside the gateway. It was wonderful to see the stunning restoration that has been done and well worth a visit. Stunning little spot.

Visited the Elphin Windmill with my 12 year old at the end of June. It is wonderful to see what can be achieved through a restoration project. We had Paul as our guide who took us through the short film and then into the windmill and exhibition of machinery. Very interesting visit. Check the opening times before you go as its differs depending in which site you look. Maybe better to ring before you visit to check their opening times as it varied from site to site and we had previously tried to visit and found the it closed.

Sad to see the windmill (and the museum beside it) closed and apparently falling into disrepair. We visited on a Saturday in May 2019. But the Irish Republican memorial only 2 minutes back out the road was worth a stop. Impressive memorial to those who died in the Irish War of Independence and subsequent struggle for freedom.

The organisers of the Elphin Windmill would like to remind you that the Windmill here in Elphin is not closed and is open 7 days a week for tours. There are occasions when the Windmill may open at a slightly different time, but rarely. We would also disagree that our Windmill is falling into disrepair. We take great pride in maintaining our Windmill.
