The beach itself is long and thus great in many aspects. Taking a walk is relaxing and you also have the woods there. But non residents pay 60 RMB and no cafes or restaurants with ocean view.

We spend 1 week in Rizhao and stayed walking distance to the beach. Rizhao is much slower pace than the big cities and the people are very friendly. We felt very safe walking through the villages. The main attraction is the lovely beaches. There are plenty of beach activities to do and many souvenir shops on and around the beach. There are many seafood restaurants with very fresh and tasty food. We spent a day at the Rizhao Markets. We caught the No. 10 bus from the northern beaches. The markets are very cheap and you don't have to bargain much because the prices are very honest. There are also a few department stores in the city. If you don't speak any Mandarin you may struggle a little. It was a very relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Rizhao beach is the nicest beach I have seen it China. It's well maintained and very clean. If you come here in summer it will be fairly packed. If you come here in Winter like I did you shouldn't see anybody for miles. I have uploaded some photos to show English signage, central shops and a typical hawker.

The beach itself is somehow nice, also the water Quality ok, but almost no infrastructure is offered. Almost no beach chairs, almost no umbrellas, no Pubs, no places to relax by a drink. Very crowdy during summer Holidays, only Chinese tourists

I went for a walk, the was alot of fog. The beach is nice and the atmosphere was dramatic. I enjoyed the walk. By the sea there is a nice garden. The place is very clean.

It is a beautiful beach, clean and with a lovely boulevard. But the sea does not have a clean water. So I can racommend it for a nice walk along the beach not for swimming.

Had fun at the beach. Ideal for lazy afternoon. There were few sports activities also. Waves were good. We were not allowed to swim because of high tides. But you can always ignore the warning and try it.

Went with friends for a walk down to the Beach Area. I was told it is normally packed with people from July to August. As it was late March, the day out was quite cold, with wind chilled included, and the strong breeze, it felt like 4 to 6 degrees Celcius. So bring warm clothes.
There were a lot of people there, although most of the beachside shopping stands were closed. Quite a number of the local people were flying colorful kites.
There were three people flying 3 spectacular jet sounding kites on the beach. This was worth watching for a whole 10 to 15 minutes, as did a number of spectators. Their synchronization of the kites in close proximity to each other was amazing. See photo.
The road coming down to the beach is one road in and out, catching a taxi back to the nearest shopping mall is easier at the Taxi stand on the incoming side. Otherwise, one would be walking back 10 to 15 minutes across the road bridge before a vacant taxi would come by. Apparently, total traffic jam is frequent in summer.
