Park, lakes and walking

Tangshan is a great place to visit. I would say this park is one of the best in Tangshan. Great place for a picnic with friends and family.

Would have been nice if our phone wasn't stolen
May 2017 • Family
Went to the Nanhu Expo a year after it opened, so we had to pay lots of money to get in. The children's rides weren't operating well. Then we discovered that someone stole a phone from our bag while we were buying tickets. Local police offered to help find the phone if we paid them a quarter the value of the phone.

Didn't get it back.

Asked if there was any place to eat, the Expo staff said there was. But after going to the supposed place for food, nothing. Food festival started the next day.

Wanted to leave to get some food after a morning spent wasted on talking to police.
Leaving meant we couldn't get back in. One ticket, one entry. Waste of money.

Amazing scale and landscape designs throughout the park. Quite quiet as far as people go. Very friendly staff that struggled with English but we're willing to try.

Good for morning strolls
Nov 2014 • Friends
It's not for me, but for my dad, and a friend of his. The two adds up to well over a hundred years old, and they do have their blissful morning strolling around this attraction. Definitely not a place for me, as I am neither a morning person nor someone who takes slow walks in a fancy little garden.

Beautiful city park
Jul 2014 • Family
We spent an afternoon in the park in July 2014. It was very hot--over 40 C--and there weren't many people around. We didn't see any other tourists. A few people were fishing. But there are bikes and boats to rent, plenty of canteens for drinks, ice cream and snacks, and interesting trees and plants. Generally a very peaceful place with many opportunities for relaxation, conversation or contemplation. I would not go to Tangshan for just this attraction (we were visiting a friend) but it is a fine place to visit if one is in this smoggy city.

we were attending our sons wedding at this venue and it would take too long to describe this country park area . it is big with lots of amenities including lodges for hire with upto 5/6 bedrooms and golf courses.

A city magnet for leisure
May 2014 • Friends
I like the picturesque lake and enjoyed listening to my tour guide about the stories of the park and the city. It has a large water space and several artificial islands scattered in it. A set of graphs and photos displayed by the lake tell that it was amazingly transformed from a large debris-dumping site and a coal-mine sinking area.

Surprisingly, there were fewer visitors to the park than I expected and even fewer high-rise buildings around the lake like other big cities. there could have been more scenic spots around the lake to attract more city dwellers.

Beautiful

There is a lot of pride here and it's a beautiful place with things to do. Not a bad idea for a half day trip.

South Lake Park
Jan 2011 • Couples
This is a major receration and ecologicalparkland in Tangshan. It is one of the largest artifical lakes in Asia, formed in part by flooded coalmines.
It is well worth a visit if you like peaceful walks and plants. Many local people go there and are friendly to foreigners. It is too big to walk around, so exploring small parts on foot, or using bicycles may be options.
South Lake Park is actually several lakes, and a main road seperating the main parts. There is a hill in the south of the northern part, worth a climb for the view.
