We walked to this beach over the hill from Hvar which was shorter and more hardwork than the costal road, but offered nice views of the bay on the way. The beach and sea was clean, with clear blue water so I highly recommend this beach. Just keep a lookout for sea urchins!!

... reviewer Bird_Without_a_Nest... great review .

The Lighthouse mentioned is on an islet not far away ( seems almost swimming distance ) it is OTOCIC POKONJI DOL & we captured this very photogenic shot as we left Hvar in MV Santa Maria small boat Cruises.
What can you say about Pokonji Dol Beach that 'Bird_ _ _Nest' hasn't already said!
I have just added to the picture ... literally.

Lovely beach but far too busy! Caught me u awares just how busy hvar would be in august. This bay was no exception - people everywhere. Trek down was pretty steep but fine, beach is white pebbles which get smaller as you reach the shoreline. Water turquoise & crystal clear. Beds & umbrellas to hire. Beds 100 kuna, umbrella 50 kuna. Two restaurants to choose from - mustaco service ok, food average.

What a beautiful beach, that was quite hidden away, a good size but probably best to get there early as it was busy when i went at about 3pm but still found a spot to go for a swim and sit in the sun.
It was also a bit of a bumpy walk down to the beach, i would say its like a mini hike. Be careful it can be a bit unsteady under foot.
The service at the restaurant wasn't to good but apart from that beautiful beach

The beach is beautiful, but the way to get there is difficult if you take the shortcut, it is going down through a path of rocks, kinda steep, it was a bit terrifying for me. Make sure to be with good shoes, not flip flops. And it was pretty full, compared to Mekicevica beach which is just 20 minutes away. However there were restaurants and shops in Pokonji Dol, which on the other hand are not available on Mekicevica.

Quite a rocky beach, as more are, so not the most comfortable unless you hire a sunbed. The place feels peaceful and secluded, as it is tucked into a bay. Can get busy on hot days. 2 nice bar/restaurants and pedaloes and kayaks for hire. A nice place to spend a day sunbathing.

Lovely beach that was recommended by our Croatian host. Pebble beach which is chilled out and has a few restaurants beside it. Also called mustaco beach. Water is clear and clean and perfect for swimming. Really lovely spot that felt more local than tourist party. It would be a trek from the city centre but we were in an apartment on the hill so was not far. The walk to it was quite steep and rocky and would recommend wearing water shoes over flip flops for both the climb and going into the sea due to rocks and urchins. Very pretty and relaxing.

This is a beautiful and clean beach, with reasonably priced cocktails and food at the two bars. For 110kn we hired two padded sun beds and a parasol for the day. It's about a 30 min walk from the main harbour, but worth it if you're planning on spending the day there.

This beach is extremely nice and quite picturesque. A 20-30min walk or 100 kuna cab ride from Hvar Old Town will have you there. The beach is pebbles and they get smaller the closer you get to the water. The pebbles are quite comfortable and there was plenty of room to find a spot and stretch out.

This beach has defined been my favourite so far.

After having a walk around the old town, and started a search for a nice beach. Locals suggested either going to Hula Hula (Beach Bar) or Pokonji dol and the decision point was that the later should be more private with not a lot of crowds. Walking from the old town to the beach took approx. 25 mins. Google maps will show you a shorter route but will be through the city. Take the longer route along the beach and the views will not disappoint! Throughout the walk you can find many spots with stairs where you can go sunbathe and swim (big rocks). If you walk till the end you will find the beach. It was not as expected “empty” or private, but it was very chill. It is a pebble beach so be ready and get your swimming shoes, best if you get it with you as it is sold in Havar for 50 krn. A sunbathing chair at the beach will cost 35 krn and there is food and drinks that you can also have. There is an outdoor shower and a toilet which was very convenient to chill after swimming.
